In sports as in business, if your people don't buy what you're selling you WILL fail.

If nothing else, our little late season run CLEARLY indicates that the team is starting to take on the personality of their coach. The mere fact that this team, which HAD been suffering from the (once thought) incurable CANCER known simply as "WANNY", is showing some stones and mental fortitude the likes we've not seen here since perhaps the EARLY 80's, is a welcome breath of fresh air.

They say that the game is a large majority mental and as we all know, we've been freaking mental MIDGETS for years that would cave at the earliest sign of any ADVERSITY. This, to me, is the most encouraging sign of the new regime.

For those that Remember the Chuck Klingbeil's, TJ Turner's, Jackie Shipp's, Vestee Jackson's, Eric Kumero's, TOM OLIVIDOTTI's, along with the most recent 5 years of DARKNESS, I cannot tell you how quickly I am developing a MAN-CRUSH on Saban! Let's pray we can land a franchise QB to "take us home"...

With me being only 17, I do remember the final years of both Shula and Marino. But I know when I grow old, and my grandkids, provided they will be Dolphans, ask me about the Dolphin's past, I will tell them about the Dark Days that was the Wannstedt Era. Hopefully, I will also tell them about a career I had with them.

To play devil's advocate, the Dolphins have sucked in the second half of the season since Shula's later years. That was one of the reason's he was fired. So it started with Shula, continued with JJ and escalated under Dave.

With the mess he's made of our team, the stink won't be completely gone until we're back in the playoffs.

Chuck Klingbeil wasn't a stiff. He was smallish but he was a tough a$$. The rest I give you were stiffs.

I agree.

I admired Klingbeil. I remember he won us a game by recovering a fumble in the end zone :)

Now, Vestee "Toast" Jackson?
:shakeno:

Remember the "B2 Bombers" also known as Jarvis "bad angles" Williams and Louis "Can't play in space" Oliver??

Oliver always gets remembered for his hard hits and that 3 pick Buffalo game but honestly his rep FAR outweighed his performance.

Do I?

I remember when we finally shucked the albatross that was Jarvis Williams to the Giants. I remember some pre-game show saying that Williams was a good pickup but "Had some issues getting to the deep sideline."

Yeah...And Hitler was "A little anti-semetic."

I admit to drinking the Oliver Kool-aid. He did stink in coverage.

It pains me to think JB Brown was our best, consistant corner in that time.

McKyer had one nice year, and, Vincent was coming along GREAT
until Schula used him on ST and he blew out his knee.

Heh all those memories of "this is the year we Run the ball/play Defence" quotes yet we all knew it would always come down to Danny. Frickin STILL pisses me off that Shula refused to fire Tom "Albatross" Olividotti. He ineptitude was UNPARALLELED!!

I remember those days. Parcells would absolutely kill us with the screen, & he would keep running it over and over, and we'd never adjust or stop it.

Saban really has done one hell-of-a job for his first year. His draft went excellent and he was very sharp in making his moves slowly. He didn't get rid of Spielman right away even though I'm sure he wanted to...

He kept the special teams coach from the prior regime who has done a very good job this year as well...

The stench never leaves all at once. But the mental toghness developing that he mentioned to start this thread is a one sign of the stench starting to lift. It will take next season and one more off season to fully rid us of it, getting the roster the way Saban wants it. We are on our way!
Of course, if fans continue to develop Man-Crushes on coach, then we will have a whole new issue. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
