I'm not ready to throw in the towel on the season yet and sincerely hope that the team makes a playoff run because I believe they have the talent...

However, IF the Dolphins end up 8-8 or 7-9 and out of the playoffs, could you envision a scenario where Philbin is let go and Lazor takes over as HC? I ask because I would hate to see the progress made by Lazor go to waste and I do feel like he has what it takes to be a good to great HC in the league. I'd rather avoid a complete overhaul if at all possible, but I also don't have enough faith in Philbin to go another season after another non-playoff disappointment. My happy medium scenario would be installing Lazor as HC and keeping much of the staff and personnel in place.

We are caught in a tough situation. I think Lazor has done a terrific job with our offense and he is definitely helping RT develop. I can't stand Philbin in the same way I couldn't stand Morono and Wannstupid. Whether Lazor is ready to be a HC or not IDK. I'd love a situation where we get a HC who knows how to motivate his team and can manage a game come in, and quite frankly, keep the rest of the coaching staff in place for the most part. But I can't recall the last time this ever really happened as new coaches bring their new guys and Lazor would get away after just one season.

Lazor is far far more valuable to this team than philbin.

I tend to agree which is why I think we need to figure a way to keep him if this season ends in disappointment... I want Philbin gone if we miss the playoffs, but I also don't want to blow the whole thing up. If I were owner, I'd roll the dice on Lazor as I think there is enough there to be a good HC hire in the end.

Might be the only way to keep Lazor. Could be interesting for him personally...

None. Rightfully so, even if Philbin went I wouldnt promote Lazor to head coach

Best case for all of us: Philbin goes, Lazor stays as offensive coordinator. And I completely agree with you that this team has the talent. That is why if they miss the playoffs again, Philbin is gone.

So who would be HC in this scenario?

Is there any scenario where Philbin gets replaced by Lazor at the end of the ...

Most likely Philbin goes, Lazor and Coyle go to, maybe even Hickey. Start all over again. I imagine Lazor would love a QB who can actually throw a deep ball. His offense would explode into the elite.

I do not see it happening but would love to see it. I do not want to start from scratch again. I would put lazor in charge for the sake of ryan

No...because our owner is an idiot. It would take him understanding that the problem are on Philbins, not Lazor. If we don't make the playoffs, he will figure that both need to go. If we do make the playoffs, he isn't going anywhere.

If it was me, he would have been gone already...

I would love to see us make the playoffs AND fire Philbin. If that happened, then I might figure that Ross might be getting it...he won't.

Our one hope this year is that Marino may have Philbin's ear. If he sees it like the rest of us, there may be some hope.
