that the depth chart released is bs and isn't indicative of how good the players are playing right now? It almost looks as if Saban put the names in a hat and randomly picked them out. I know it's early but I'm not even putting anything into it. Hell, I wouldn't put it past Saban to release the depth chart to the media and then have a different one in the locker room.

I think it's exactly what he said it was: a snapshot in time that reflects what they'd put out there today. It will change tomorrow.

So do you think this "snapshot" is based solely on today's practice or all practices leading up to today?

Probably up to today, but dont put any stock into it because it means absolutely nothing right now, it doesn't even show who is performing good in practice.

I really like it, he has put players that have recently joined at the bottom reguardless of who they "think" they are. They will have to earn it! It makes for a better training camp, more competition. We all know Shulters will more than likely be the starting FS, but this way the team will know hes there because he earned it. It also gives the guys that will be 2nd string some time to run with the 1st team, which will benefit them in the long run.

I'm putting nothing into this depth chart. It doesn't mean anything to me. It's like a rough draft for an essay.

Looking at this depth chart is almost a complete waste of time. Does anybody really think Yeremiah Bell will be starting over Lance Shulters, for instance? C'mon. Or that Travis Minor will be ahead of Ricky when the season starts? Hell, I doubt Minor will be on the team come regular season.

The only thing even slightly interesting I see in it, is that Vernon Carey is listed as the starter at LT, which is encouraging in that it suggest that he may be for real in terms of being a candidate to hold that spot.

He is giving the guys with seniority priority (weird word twist I know) on the depth chart, minus Travis Daniels for whatever reason. Does anyone really believe that a healthy Boston will be our no. 5 reciever, or that Williams will be behind Minor and Morris? It may take until the season to sort out our real starting line-up, and some of the talented younger guys may take a whille to get in there. Saban will probably blow a lot of smoke, which is what a lot of coaches do. I remember Anquan Boldin was not even supposed to start when he had that 200 yard game in week one two years ago.

As much as I know that this will not be the final depth chart, Saban seems to have assessed some positions more accurately than others. The OL, TE, and CB look like it could be like that at the start of the season while S, DT, and WR seems to be quite off from what most of us think.
