Is this game a must win?

I know it's still early in the season but I feel that this game is a must win as far team confidence and morale is concerned. If you think about it, the Dolphins have experienced nothing but negative press since the end of last season. Every move and decision the Dolphins have made has been met with criticism and skepticism from the media. I know players say they don't read newspapers and stuff but it's all around. After reading and hearing all of the negative stuff for so long, players may question whether what is being said and written is true or not. If we win this one, it will at least give them positive press and a week of rest from all of the negativity. For them to pull this one out with all of the injuries and changes to the lineup plus the fact that they are playing on primetime in Cincy for the 1st time in forever will boost their confidence in the team and in each other.
 
Must win game? Yeah, you could say that. We`ve got three tough games in a row coming up, we need a W Sunday night in the worst way.
 
I would say so. If the jets and pats both win then yea we need this win.
 
yeah i dont think its a must win record wise as much as confidence wise... i mean we could start 0-2 and still make the playoffs theoretically, but if we lose this i think the team and the fans might start believing what everyone in the media is saying, that they dont have a shot in hell... but if their offense can look someone organized and decent and pull out the W tomorrow i think it would go a long way for their confidence and future growth...

I think if you count how many teams won the Superbowl starting out 0-2 you would answer your own question.
 
Without question this is a must win game for the Dolphins. To lose to a perennial loser like Cincinnati, start the season 0-2, and face a tough schedule with our division competitors at, most likely, 2-0, would be the end of this season. This team would implode; a QB controversy would erupt and, of course, we the fans we be absolutely livid.

The injuries have been absolutely horrendous this year, which only makes the problems worse. Let's face it, no one is going to give Wanny a mulligan. This team has no wiggle room right now. It is in a must-win situation. After all that's happened this year, winning is the only prescription for relief. Nothing else will matter.
 
Every game is a must win if your W column has a big ZERO in it.

Otherwise, teams will start to see Miami as a ho team just waiting to get pimp slapped.
 
The only way that this game is a "must win" is to avoid the stigma that will be further slapped on the Dolphins if they lose to the Bengals. I can hear it now: "Theres a new Bengals on the NFL Horizon".
Plus, all of us saw last season that 10 wins dont guarantee a playoff spot, so you have to win the division really.
 
Umm yeah its the BENGALS, so its definately a must win. Sh%t if we actually win and the Jills lose we might not be in the basement and they MIGHT for once start harping on how bad the Bills are instead of Miami! By the way, I said "IF WE WIN". Note for all the Bungal, Jills fans!

Blatant must win....for AJ, Lamar, our D missing 2 starters, our playoff hopes, and team psyche.

More than a must win, I think this game is a must find an offensive identity. If they can't find a groove against the atrocious Bengals D we are in trouble. Of all the games last week, the Dolphins by far looked the most confused and not sure of themselves on O.
 
Starting off the season 0-2 would be really bad. It wouldn't mean our season is over since a lot of teams that start 0-2 make the playoffs (one won the SB last year) but you don't want to lose any games, so of course going 0-2 would be bad. Every game is a must win game.
 
its a must win for both teams.

If miami wins it gives them hope for the season and mb they wont be the doormat of the league. If they lose all life will be sucked out of their chests. Basically this game solidifies the offseason for them.

If cincy wins it gives us respectability and shows that we are legit. We (cincy) need this win in the worst possible way. It basically will give us some momentum and some confidence for the divisional games coming up in the next few weeks. If we lose it totally would deflate us especially cuz its our home opener and its on national tv. We must show the world that we arent the bungles !

It's not do or die but a win right now would really help the teams " physicie" be a big boost, something to build on. Just to get things going in a positive way. To kinda take there minds of all the offseason BS. They need to know they can still win games.
