Gase comes into town and after a year wants to replace Tannehill. He is told no; it is non-negotiable by Grier and/or T-bum. Moving on from a QB with Tannehill's contract would be admitting severe failure by the people who gave him said contract. Gase very much does seem like a locker room culture guy so you would never even get the slightest of hints via interviews/press conference that he is unhappy with Tannehill.

Is this possible?

It's possible I just think the likely scenario is that he is in over his head. If it comes down to one of the other you can bet he'll throw 17 under the bus

Nope.

I could see something like this being vaguely possible with a QB on a Kirk Cousins contract, but Tannehill has a relatively team friendly contract for a starting QB.

Didn’t they get rid of Suh? Didn’t he have kind of a big contract? Wasn’t T-Baum responible for that stupid contract?

Not anymore. Before the restructure it wasn't bad but after this year his cap hits are 25 and 26 million

but I don't think the premise of the thread is likely at all

I thought the team was in a flexible position. If a worthy #2 QB is available at a reasonable pick or salary then it makes sense to do so. If not, like what happened, then we are all in with Thill.

I don't see cutting Thill during the season at all. I wouldn't be opposed to trading him in the offseasons if we get a proven upgrade.

In the end, I'd like to see what the offense looks like with an average Oline and average playcalling.

Gase and company told you everything you need to know when they played with Tannehill's contract. With us eating Suh's contract, it's almost impossible to get rid of Tannehill now.

If this scenario is not possible then I’m completely dumbfounded why Gase supports Tannehill after even we can see his limitations so clearly this year.

I think Gase looked at this is a chance to shore up his QB guru bona fides. RT looked like a good project and Gase probably thinks of himself as a fixer. Ego maybe got in the way and thought he could handle it despite what his eyes saw, maybe he honestly misjudged, or maybe there is still a slim chance. I don't think he came here to sit on what he thought was the wrong guy. At the time, Gase was in demand and had choices, right?

I honestly wouldn't put it past the ownership of this team.

Just remember the coaches we couldn't get.

Cutting Tannehill after this year would be a hit of over 13mill on dead money on top of the 13 mill hit we'll still have on Suh. 26mill on dead money for two guys not on the team is horrible

I don’t buy that at all. I think Gase loves Tannehill because he is a hard worker and a yes man. The longer we wait on getting rid of Gase the longer we have to endure Tannehill. And yes the online sucks but Tannehill still is average at best. And you don’t have to cut Tannehill this year to draft a qb round 1 as long as it’s the right QB and I’m sorry if Gase thinks the answer is Luke Faulk then he is even more of an idiot than I thought.

Anything is possible, but I think there is a 99.9% chance that that did not occur. I think Gase hitched his saddle to that pony and now he is going to be out of a job because of it. By the way, I think the preceding opinion is good for the organization.

somebody in front office or Ross want thill17 around. i dont think Adam has that much too say. when it come to qb. I was surprised we didn't draft qb for future. rosen and 3rd rd guy was there to get. to be real thill17 have 2 yr window as starter. his high ceiling maybe wildcard. 8-8 is more real and his low is 6-10. we need groom qb for future real soon or we going free agent at qb. I have never seen qb w 8 or10 yr as starter that have never made playoff.
