I am bored right now but i want to dicuss dolphins football. With all the media giving the pats the division and predicting them to win the superbowl I cant help but to think what factors besides bad coaches or bad coaching decisions that has hindered us from getting to the superbowl.

I came up with a theory but it may be something we already know but its worth talking about because we can only blame Jimmy, dave, Nick and cam only so much.

theory , In my quest to see a dolpphins superbowl I pondered the real meat of our problems .

First , the qb issue we can all agree to disagree on this but Jay Feidler was a serviable qb but he just wasnt a qb that could take us deep in the playoffs. when you factor the wr corp we have had it must be said that the real reasons for not making it to a superbowl is as follows.

reason number 1 , Miami has been a cant get over the hump team ,conseqently due to not being able to pass the ball ( example playoff game vs Oakland ) even though we had Chambers and welker , but our other wrs didnt do anything to help get us there.

Reason number 2 not mixing up the plays costed us two playoff games see the last two playoff games.

reason number 3 our coaches have tried to use basement bargin player at qb, and wr and both tackles .

reason #4 special teams have costed us 6 playoff games if your really study those games.

reason #5 we simply have not had a superstar olineman and wr ,although we had Welker ,Chambers , Gadsden we still missed the playoffs.

reason #6 playing bad in december has been a recurring episode thus when other teams get hot in decemebr we on the other hand went south. Plus our defense may have been overrated becuse of lack of leadership.

so these factors combined with bad coaching have sealed our doom .

remedy is to not over rely on the run game and throw more downfield and stop with the 5 yards dink and dunk and throw deep and this will take presure off of Ricky and Ronnie.

You shouldn't post when you are bored because you don't make any sense at all.

Reason 1. Chambers was a rookie the year we played Oakland in the playoffs and Welker was still in college.

Reason 2. Losing the last two playoff games, both against Baltimore, wasn't about us not wanting to mix things up but the inability to mix things up.

Reason 3. Chambers and Booker, at the time he was traded to Miami, were not bargain basement WRs. You would have had better reasoning with this one if you had just said poor drafting.

Reason 4. This one you are gonna have to go into further details with. The game against Oakland turned on a interception by fiedler in the end zone after we had drove the length of the field with the opening kickoff.

Reason 5. Having superstar WRs does not guarantee success. How many years did Arizona have Boldin and Fitzgerald before finally making the playoffs in 2008? Every year that Gadsden played in a full season (1998 to 2001), the Dolphins never missed the playoffs.

Reason 6. Our defense lacked leadership? With Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, Sam Madison, Patrick Surtain and Brock Marion?

Bad coaching, bad drafting, bad trades, lack of proper structure within the front office, lack of stability with the coaching staff, lack of stability at QB are just some of the reasons for our lack of playoff appearances/success.

I will say this much bad drafting played a big part on all coaches. Jimmy wasted I can't remember how many picks on running backs and not one ever really panned out. I think the closest he came was Abdul Jabbar. And that was the first guy he drafted I believe. I remember one year he had drafted 3 running backs. And another thing that irks me is all the drafting down Jimmy did. But I will say this he did draft some decent defensive guys.

And then Wanny's drafts I think were all just plain horrible. He missed on some great players. And instead making stupid picks for depth or whatever his reason was. And his mancrush on Fiedler was terrible. I mean the guy was simply not that good . And I swear he flat out refused to put in or find somebody better. ANd then the offensive lines through both guys tenures got worse. Not drafting offensively along the line killed us bad.

And if it wasn't for Gadsden saving Fiedler with all his fantastic one hand grabs. Fiedler was not a guy you could depend on game in and out. The defense bailed him out so many times. Until finally the team started to break down year by year. And then with new coaches following Wanny they are trying to rebuild. But it doesn't help a team much when you are getting a new coach every year.

this is what happens when you waste so many draft picks.. you can pick up star free agents every year if you want to build a solid team especially in miami because who doesnt want to live there?? the night life is amazing.. the football culturee is huge here dolphins players are celebrities..

but when you dont have the depth threw the draft.. you cant win later in the year! you must be able to play as good as a team with the back ups as you can with your starters to win in december!

just my opinion..

I don't care what anyone says, but the much vaunted (and overrated) defense of the early '00s should bear a large portion of the blame for the Dolphins' lack of success in the playoffs (and for their failure to make the playoffs in '02 and '03). Yes, Fiedler was horrible and that was but one of the many egregious mistakes made by Wanny. But, the defense in the early '00s folded time and again in big games and the so-called lock Hall of Fame players on that defense-- JT and ZT-- showed nothing in the playoffs when they did get there (in fact, JT and ZT are 0-3 in the divisional round of the playoffs and a very mediocre 3-3 in the wildcard round).

Hell, we have one playoff win in this decade and that's only because Lamar Smith ran for over 200 yards and carried the rest of the team on his back that day (that and the Colts kicker missing a game winning kick in overtime).

The original post was all over the place, but I agree that the QB position was not the key problem. The offensive line has been our consistent bane before the trifecta arrived. Tom Brady behind our offensive lines during those rough years would not have succeeded.

The Trifecta hasn't fixed that problem yet so until they do...I won't consider the offensive line fixed until we can go into training camp knowing who our starting five will be and not hoping who it should be.

any one can say players folded or that they are bad but attitude reflects leadership so imo it was the coaching staff and the front office sorry but passing on drew brees for jamer fletcher and passing on boldin for eddie moore both horrible decisions. we needed a qb and a star receiver wonder how that turned out. not to mention the fact that besides the indy game we can't run the ball in the playoffs inculding last year. plus it's easy to say our d folded in playoff games but when the o can't control the clock and move the ball down field it doesn't matter how good your d is not to mention the fact that the d won games that got us to the playoffs so with out zach, taylor, surtain, madison and marion we would not have made the playoffs.

I found this reason to be the most inaccurate...dont forget trace armstrong, tim bowens... Although Tim was quiet, trace was a great presence vocally. The late seasons collapses were mostly due to the defense simply getting tured down the stretch... it had nothing to do with leadership whatsoever..

If one believes we lacked leadership in those days, one definately didnot know the team one is a fan of.
