Isiah Prince Film Breakdown By Ot Reid Fragel

I don’t watch a ton of college football so maybe someone who does can explain all the hate Prince is getting? I get that highlight tapes don’t ever tell the full story but the guy looks pretty good and he’s a team captain and1st team all conference. Seriously we’re all the other tackles in the big 10 just awful or are people being unreasonable with their criticism?

He struggled in his first three years... and really started improving last year... it seems many put too much emphasis on the early part of kids college career.

If you noticed Reid Fragel commented on Princes improvement in his senior year over previous years. I think he will be our right tackle eventually.

He was god awful his first 2 years like turnstile awful but as they mentioned he’s continued to improve and is a decent player now. He probably needs a year or two to continue to develop but at the end of the day he’s a 6th round pick, can’t really rely on them completely so I’m with you really no reason to bash the pick. Maybe people upset with the position not being addressed earlier but we had a lot of needs and not many picks so you had to know everything wasn’t going to be addressed this draft.

I like this kind of 6th round pick... he has the talent if he develops to be a quality starter one day.

His body control in combination with his height look awful when setting up to pass block. Shows up far too often. This is the type of prospect I want to like -- later round from an elite program and with good test scores -- but every time I gave Prince another look last season it didn't last more than a handful of plays. Hard to see how he translates to NFL tackle, especially since he's already playing the less eventful right side.

Maybe it will be wrong. But for whatever reason the Dolphins don't exactly specialize in late round offensive linemen.

And I don't agree that Prince bloomed this year. There were Buckeye fans who were encouraged by the 2017 season and thought he might become their best returnee. Not close.

I'm going to take your word for it AD because you've seen way more of this guy than I have. They must see something they like about him. We need some RT help badly.

If this kid can put it all together then look out. He has all the physical skill set needed to be dominate. Hopefully good coaching and a sense of motivation is all he really needs.

I think the plan was this - build depth on the line this season and fill in the gaps next draft.

Yes we still need a RT, and maybe a C imo. But our reserves are looking a lot better. We picked up a solid backup in Reed earlier. If you look at our OL core now, it’s not a cupboard is bare situation. We can realistically have a very strong OL by next offseason, and most of them will have had a year of reps together, which is a huge help.

I think with the proper coaching/seasoning, this guy will be a nice fixture for Miami for years.

Balance is definitely the primary issue I see with Prince. When he gets his hands on guys, and he has his center, he often drives them into the ground. Did it to Willekes, Gary, and Winovich. But, he also had his struggles with Willekes and Winovich - though not as bad as I remembered. He bends at the waist too much, and that seems like a relatively easy correction, but plenty of OT's were never able to fix that issue.

Given the draft position, I think he's fine, but if he develops into a good NFL OT, we'll know that Miami has something special at OL Coach, because he needs a lot of work.
