It amazes me that so many people do not know football. I am not counting the crowd that can recite every stat for their favorite team or tell you who their qb is dating. I am talking about guys who know the x's and o's of football. Any coach will tell you that when a team brings 8 or in some cases 9 in "the box" against your offense they should pay by giving up deep slants and the whole field should open up. This is not the case with our team, dont get me wrong guys I like Pennington but the truth hurts. We cannot run against all of these fronts we are seeing and with his inability to throw the ball deep with zip we are not only running vs 8 and 9 man fronts his short passes are going right into the teeth of all those players because they do not have to defend every blade of grass! The defense does not have to worry about anything over their heads because they understand that the deep part of the field is not and never will be under attack with Pennington under center. Those of us who want Henne to get a shot I think share this thought with me because we understand that we cannot dink and dunk let alone run vs these fronts that we will see all year with Pennington.

Your argument would have some substance to it if Penningtons yards per completion wasn't better than most last year. Would inserting Henne open up the field some? Of course it would but you'd also have to be prepared for a lot more INT's, sacks, and just stupid plays.

stop just reading stats, his YPA im sure was helped by Wildcat passes to Cobbs, that screen to Cobbs for like 80 yards, Martin play that went like 70, etc etc...

its evident he cant stretch the field... dont pretend hes not a dink and dunker...

Your argument would have some substance to it if we didn't have tons of interceptions, sacks and stupid plays yesterday!

Everyone of our opponents will take the blueprint from what the Falcons did to us so we need to change something or we'll have the same result every week

Isn't that part of the learning process for young QB's? Some mistakes?

Cant be any worse than the 10 yr vet was yesterday....

Just give the kid Henne a shot he couldn't do any worse.

I gave you thanks because in theory your post is very good and right on the ball in terms of stacking the box and it giving us the deep ball, however, all these noddle arm comments drive me nuts..

Fact, in 2008
*Pennington averaged more yards per completion than "strong armed" QB's like Aaron rodgers, Peyton Manning, Jay Cutler, Roethlisberger, McNabb.

*He had 2 less 20 yard completions than Peyton and Favre.

*He had more 40 yard completions than strong armed QB's like Bulger, Cutler, Favre, Peyton, and Roethlisberger.

The noodle arm comments are simply incorrect and unfortunately shows an ineptitude for fellow finfans to be unbiased. I mean, even on other teams, the QB is always the first one to blame.. In this sense, Dolphin fans are just as bad as Philly fans are with DNabb. Those fans know nothing.. Pennington is the best post Marino Qb we have had.. And there is no garuantee that Henne will do any better if he is given a shot.. And realitcally, he showed nothing in preseason to show he is ready to lead this team

ton rhymes with one.....that's the closest connection I can make though. :err:

Yes, yes... why should we watch games? we can simply look at the stats.

Thanks dolpns13 for letting us know that Pennington is almost like Peyton and Favre, and that he usually pushes the ball farther than Bulger, Cutler, Favre, Peyton and even Roethlisberger.

If you can convince some GM around the league we could even get a couple of draft picks for him

These threads really show who has played organized football and who has not.

Glad to help

im not saying Chad is a better Qb than those listed, but you made your own point, obviously Chad did push the ball and had more big yardage plays than those QB's who have the "stronger" arms
