Predator in the Water
Am I the only one who thinks we had a solid draft? Considering the positions we were in I believe we did the best we could. Sure there may be a question mark here or there but every team has question marks.
I also tend to beleive we may have been robbed of 2 players. I tend to beleive the trifecta may have gone with Everette Brown in the second round, instead of Pat White, but the Panthers traded up with the 49ers to get him one spot ahead of us. The other player I think the trifecta may have been eyeing was Ramses Barden but the Giants selected him 2 spots ahead of us in the 3rd round.
So, I think our first 4 picks would've gone like this:
1. Vontae Davis
2. Everette Brown
3. Sean Smith
4. Ramses Barden
But it is what it is, and instead, we drafted Pat White with our second pick, which I think was an exotic pick. I actually like the pick and we all know Pat white was drafted for main purpose of the Wildcat and having Pat White makes our Wildcat that much more dangerous. Just think of all the tweaks we're going to be able to make to the Wildcat now. Pat white is a multipurpose threat. You guys recall having Chad Pennigton line up as a WR, well, Pat White can play WR also. If White takes the Snap, defenses now have to not only worry about his speed, but his throwing ability as well. I think this is going to work out great for us.
Now I was really bummed out when we missed on Ramses Barden, I thought for sure we were going to take him, but instead we drafted Turner. I don't know much about Turner but know he was at USC, so there's got to be some talent there, coming from a bigger school.
I also like Safety Chris Clemons from Clemson. This guy was projected to go in the 3rd or 4th round and we got him.
Considering we missed out on Everette Brown, I now think we will consider signing JT to help out on the pass rush.
All in all, I think this was a good draft.
