sage is not the answer for the future, lets put in cleo and see if he is. hes mobile, and we have an offense where we should be primarily running, and defenses will try to make cleo beat them with his arm. that means single coverages. anyone could make someof the wide open passes that gus misses. lets not kid ourselves, yes we are a game out of first.. but if we somehow won the division gus will falter. weve got the talent at rb, the loine looks better, maybe cleo will be a spark that could make us dangerous THIS year. i assume we could make the playoffs possibly in a dog fight right now, why not try to take over dominantly. withthe running game weve got now all we need is some easy throws to be made, and maybe a qb who can scramble a little bit

I definitely feel you that Gus is not the answer, but there can be no way that Cleo has mastered the playbook enough to start. I say go with Sage for a couple of weeks, and see how he progresses. If he stinks and we're out of it, then put in Cleo and hope for the best.

Cleo shouldn't see the field until Sage starts and fails....which he probably will but so has Gus and Gus is way older.

The reason Cleo won't play is b/c Sage has been here for so long and as not had a chance to play that much... Also Cleo does not know the playbook.....................

Cleo is my boy but he probably doesn't have a firm enough grasp of our system to start yet. Give it another couple weeks and then I say put him in.

The dude just got here....come on...

No its not time for cleo, but to be honest I really want to see him get a start or two before the season ends. Going into the draft we need some kind of idea what this kid has got.

Cleo doesnt know the playbook use your ****ing head.

It's football not rocket science or even complicated math. Stop making excuses for professionals.

i gotta tell you, the lonewulf your going to be the lonewulf thing, that was really brilliant. lot of thought and creativity must have went into that. you must have graduated from harvard.
anyways, ya i get that we are still in the race for the playoffs, but we dont scare anybody. were one dimensional. if you shut down our run, you shut us down and force turnovers. if you make gus beat you, he will fail for us every time. our defense is not strong enough to carry us anymore. they require that we keep them off the field as much as possible. the only way to do that is to run the ball at this point.
so we agree that running the ball is the way to go. and it seems the dolphins are content running the ball and throwing short passes to let the recievers make plays. nothing too dangerous, except for the play on 3rd and 2. bottom line, anyone can make the easy passes gus makes. so would it hurt to let sage or cleo hand the ball off and make the 5 yard passes that gus makes?
anyone saying gus manages the game is kidding themselves. by game management you mean throwing the ball to the recievers feet, over there head, or handing the ball off.
like i said earlier, even if we make the playoffs due to the horrible division, we are missing an element on offense to make us dangerous. teams will shut down the run and force us to pass. we could get away with short easy passes with a reciever like chambers who can catch and run, but gus messes those up too. sage or cleo could not hurt us if they ran the same plays gus runs.but they could improve on what he does, make those easy passes, and make us a more dangerous team. the hope is that the confidence in these young quarterbacks creates a spark and a decent passing game opens up.
so you have sage and cleo. we know what weve got with sage. ya, he threw that touchdown to chambers that could have just as easily been a pick. the coaches dont like him. if they did then hed be the young qb theyd be trying to develope. do we owe him a chance, yes probably. does he know the playbook better than cleo? maybe a little bit. not much, linehan is new here, and hes modifying the plays every week. cleo is mobile, which is an element that could be huge to add to our offense with the running game that weve got. we brought cleo here because the coaches liked him, and a lot of people think he is the quarterback of the future for the dolphins.

here is my main point. if we had to let cleo or sage go, wed cut sage. cleo was brought here to play, and to be on the roster next year. he will probably be the only guy on the roster next year. sage is happy as a backup. he would probably happily re-sign as our backup 3rd string again next year. he was third behing gus (who was brought here this year), and aj feelme (who we spent a second on). he could not have possibly stayed because he thought he had a chance at starting here. cleo has been working his way up to get to this point, and has actually gotten playing time (even if it is the afl or nfl europe). one guy wants to be a starter and has worked for it, the other is happy 3rd string. cleo has much more upside than sage. we need to know if we need to draft a qb next year. wed be bringing him in to a simple system at this point where he wouldnt be expected to come in and win the game passing for us. we spent a 6th and aj for him, its almost like we drafted him. why not put him in and show him confidence now? i understand people saying lets keep gus in because hes a vet and they want to make the playoffs. i understand people saying cleo might not know the playbook yet. but you cant argue that cleo has less upside than sage. he is a better athlete. it is just as ridiculous to say start sage as it is to say start cleo. he isnt expected to know everysingle play in the playbook. at least start giving him snaps with the starting offense. let sage and cleo battle it out in practice this week.
