The Fins have to find out if Chad Henne is the man or not, they can wildcat all they want but the devlopement of Henne is of the upmost important.

Last week I noticed as most of you did was Henne standing on the side lines while the wildcat was being stuffed down our throats even though it was only 7 plays, he (Henne) came out when most Qb's are in the battle, win or lose he will learn from experience, how can the organization trust his decisions on the field he's never in those situations? If the team is trying to develop him for game time situations then they are doing an less than adequate job because this guy needs reps reps and more reps, what's going to happen sunday when they get down by 14 are they going to run the wildcat? no their going to put this guy and hope he can lead them down the field. I am a die hard dolphins fan but sometime I think it's about right now instead of 2 or 3 years down the road, because next year if you don't have the personnel to run the wildcat then you have to go to a conventional style of offense. Let the Cat out of the bag fully or put it away, taking your QB off the field only dictates what your going to do.

Personally I am growing sick of the wildcat crap. Our last 2 games the wildcat hasn't done a thing. The Saints and Jets snuffed it out. And yes, Henne needs to get into a rhythm and he can't when we keep taking him out for a couple series and then put him back in. He does need the reps with the receivers.

Well its a running formation. So even if Henne's in there, the only experience he'll get will be from handing off the ball. I dont get it, its like saying every time we run we lose out on an opportunity to see if Henne is the guy...?

I think what he's trying to say is the Wildcat is becoming a crutch for the coaching staff....

What good is the Wildcat when you're down 14 points....17 points....on the road, etc.......teams have already shown that they can sniff it out and stop it...

Developing a legitimate quarterback in Miami requires letting Henne learn and understand situational football....

Personally, I'd like to see them go to more 3 step drops with Henne and let him get the ball out.......especially early in games....let him get into a rhythm.... build his confidence.....

Similar to how coaches like Holmgren, Andy Reid, Bill Walsh, etc....would script the first 15 plays of the game to go ahead and get the quarterback into a rhythm...

What good does it do a young quarterback to bring him in on 3rd and 8, etc.....because you "Wildcatted" your way to a 1 yard gain on 1st and 2nd down.......and have him run a play action pass? Ask him to convert...not turn the football over, etc....

They're trying to play to the strength of the team....(the RB's).....but that comes at a price......everything does....

so you want to never run the ball? all of a sudden running plays are detrimental to our QB?

Running the wildcat gives Henne a chanch to talk with his coaches. I don't see it as hurting us. We are gaining extra time outs!

If it 3rd and 1 then youcan run any play, I formation, 2 back set, run the fullback, 3rd and 5 requires a pass in most instances not the wildcat, if the wildcat is the formation of choice then be committed to it with that style of QB who can run or pass the football.

and most 3rd and 5+ we do pass the ball... we've run the wildcat in that instance like 3 times all year... and usually with success...

yes the Jets stopped the wildcat, though we barely had the ball in the second half because of our special teams and defensive touchdowns... so we didn't even get a chance... dont let that one performance think we should NEVER use it now

I've been consistently pleased with Henne's play. My biggest complaint would be when he scrambles from the pocket hes lost all vision down field and gotten sacked. he needs to be more patient and throw the ball away instead of taking those sacks like last game.

This game is just another test of many for Henne. Honestly, with the way BB gets his team ready, I expect Henne to struggle in this game naturally as a very inexperienced qb. However, this game says really nothing about the long term prospect of Henne as the future of the Miami Dolphins IMO.

That being said, what DOES bother me is that that although we have a few good possession wideouts, we have nobody for Henne to really build a good rapport with and that very well could lead to him being setback a year or so in his development. That bothers me more than anything.

I agree however, it would help if the plays were designed to run to his "throwing arm" side and NOT the other way around. Those roll outs in the Jets game were baffling because it was to his non throwing side.

I think everyone is forgetting the quality of defenses we've played the last 2 weeks. And its worth pointing out that the first time we played the Jets we absolutely shredded them with the wildcat, as well as during the first half the Saints had little answer for it. Id be really surprised if the Bucs, Bills, Panthers, and others had the personal to stop it. No need to put it away when we have upcoming soft defenses.

As for Henne's involvement, its absurd to say the coaching staff has questions, or we need to see more from him, just because they bring him to the sideline. With the exception of one wrinkle he wouldnt be touching the ball anyways. If nothing else, it gives Henne a play to talk to the coaches about defensive formations and some reads he might see.

As for our trust in Henne's development in game clutch situations, i think he's proven that. In both Jets games he lead the team down the field that lead to game winning touchdowns. The numbers over the last 2 games are misleading, as some of our top playmakers(or as close to playmakers as we have on offense) have gotten extreme cases of the "dropsies". Once the other team see's our wideouts cant beat them(or catch even a cold), why not send the house at Henne and our running backs?
After the Pats we are going to be facing some really average(or suck) defenses, our run game will restablish itself as one of the best and questions about Henne will be solved for the most part.

Henne himself has mentioned that those breaks during the wildcat plays have helped his developement. imo, he's made less mistakes because of the extra discussions.

This will be Henne's 5th start. He's getting plenty of playing time. Why is everyone so worried about this? If anything the wildcat helps ease him in nicely rather than be asked to make EVERY play. And in case you didn't notice, he's made some nice throws and led this team on big scoring drives in his 4 starts. And yes, its only been 4 starts.

You guys are acting like he's in his late 20's and its now or never. I got news for ya...not only have we not seen Henne at his absolute best...we haven't seen him at his worst. Its a process...he'll get better as he gets more experience.

posted in wrong post... sorry...
