The Dolphins' season will die a merciful, injury-riddled death on Sunday when the team faces the Bills in Buffalo at 1 p.m. Then owner Stephen Ross will have some important offseason decisions to make. Most important, should current vice president Mike Tannenbaum and head coach Adam Gase continue steering a ship that's been lost at sea for decades?

This one should not be hard for Ross. Not at all, actually. Gase and Tannenbaum have had their chance over the last three seasons to change the culture of mediocrity. It's time to start over and find a shot-caller — à la Pat Riley with the Miami Heat — who is about more than decimal points and dollar signs. The team needs someone who knows the game and what a winner looks like.

I too, see him as more of a figurehead but I may have him all wrong. And yes, it may be worth a shot cuz we could absolutely not do any worse with what we have now.

Maybe with a slightly different job description. Moving on from Tannebaum is something I'd say most fans have wanted for a long time. Would Marino be up for the challenge and what exactly would his role be?

One thing is for sure. This will be another interesting offseason for the Miami Dolphins.

No thanks. I’d like to promote someone from a solid front office. Highsmith or Paton are guys I’d be interested in.
This organization needs to get the chain of command right first. Then I believe the candidates that you named would be best with a few others. No more of Mr. Ross picking the head coach.

How do you know if anyone is going to be good?

I’ll give Danny a shot to run this ship if he’s all in. He’ll surround himself with good people. And you know competitive fire is there.
Do you do this when proven front office people like Paton and Highsmith could be available?
