Paul Pasqualoni has his hands full this week, because the defense will have to have another strong outing.

The obvious keys to the game will be stopping Chris Johnson (most dynamic RB in the NFL) and making sure Vince Young's scrabbling doesn't hurt us.

On Defense

Our front seven should use the same approach as last week. Playing patient, disciplined, gap control defense. Don't be over-aggressive and wait for Johnson to come to them. Our DE's have to make sure Johnson doesn't try to bounce his runs outside, funneling him back to the inside.

I think it is imperative to increase Reggie Torbor's playing time this week, because he is much faster than Akin Ayodele. Our front seven will be facing Johnson's blazing speed, and Young's athleticism and Ayodele will be a liability if he is the one left to spy on Young or have to cover Johnson on screen passes :nailbiter: (I'm sure the thought of that scares all Dolfans). I like Torbor's athleticism for this game.

Our CBs should hold up fine against their WRs, I don't see any big threat from them. Sean Smith vs. Kenny Britt should be an interesting matchup, but one Smith should be able to handle.

On Offense

We are going to have to use Ricky a lot in this one to keep our attack balanced, but we have to be cautious with the # of carries. This is going to be a very physical game, and we are going to need him for the rest of the run to the playoffs. We need Lex Hillard to step up his game and take away some of the carries from Williams this week, so he's not too banged up for next week's matchup.

The GOOD NEWS: We are actually facing a defense that has a worse passing defense than us. The best chances of beating them will be through the air. The Titans pass D is ranked 31st, allowing a whopping 67.7 % of passes completed against them, and an opponents QB rating of 92.9. Hartline, Bess, Carmarillo, Fasano, and hopefully Ginn should terrorize the Titan's struggling secondary this week.

This is by far no push over game. The Titans started out very slow and came on lately like gamebusters, but if we continue to do what we do best, we should come out on top. GO FINS!!!!

I really really hope our defensive scheme worked last week because it was appropriate and executed well and not because the Jags offense played without any fire or desire to win.

Do you really believe the Jags were not motivated to defend their wildcard spot? I mean, these guys are professional football players playing against an in-state rival and a chance to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Although I agree for what you got to say. I can not stand hearing that we have a shot at playoffs. We are running on such thin ice, if we lose one our chances are VERY unlikely, and even if we go 10-6 we still might not make it. If we go 8-8 i am happy if one of them are TN.

I completely disagree.

On defense, if we man up a LB, "waiting" or not, on C Johnson, we're toast. What LB could cover Johnson in the flat? Nobody.
The best way to neutralize CJ is to spy a DB (nickle or dime back) on him.

That means our base D will be a nickle package, taking one of our ILB's out. Playing CJ man to man with zone over the top.

On Offense, we need to throw the ball, not pound RW. Titans are near the bottom in pass defense but one of the best defending the run. Why bang our head against their front? We use similar plan against the Pats and the Jags. Pass, pass, pass, then draw, screen, and sprinkle some I formation and whams.

The question I have is who will start at QB for the Titans?

I agree about the playoffs, id call this season a good success with an 8-8 record, and consider it to be a miracle if we run the table. That being said, if we are to go 8-8, id perfer that win to be against Houston, im starting to despise them in the worst way. Though the sad part will be the weeks id have to wait to jump back on this board do to everyone losing their minds if we dont make the playoffs.

In the other threads that were like this, though to be fair in this one it hasnt really been mentioned, many people are calling for the same gameplan we had against MJD and the Jags. I disagree, one of Chris Johnsons strength is hitting homeruns by breaking outside, like the original poster suggested.
Our offensive gameplay should be similar to the Patriots game. Throw often, get into rhythm, and throw the defense off balance by calling up runs from time to time. This game could very well be a shootout.

As far as yesterday reports said that Young's hamstring might keep him limited in the Dolphins game. They expected him back at practice Wed. and they don't want to rush him or over use him.

So it seems like he will likely start and depending on how he feels, play for a decent amount of time. I'm not sure what I like better. An injured Young (don't know how bad it actually is) or a healthy Collins. I probably would take Collins because he hasn't been playing too much minus last week.

I agree that it wasn't about motivation per se, but I they were heavily injured. MJD had not been playing anywhere near his top level the last few games. Therefore my hope is that we stopped a healthy great rushing attack rather than a mediocre injured one.

I do agree about the Houston thing. Every dolphin had to choose which one out of the three to be a win i bet everyone would pick Houston and so would I. The only reason a rather TN be a win over Houston is that every dolphins game I have gone to we have lost is it too much to ask to see my team win when I am in the stadium watching? :foundout:

Defensively I agree with this, playing a Nickel would be real smart. I would use Davis to spy CJ, he's good in run support and he can cover CJ out of the backfield. The only other guy I'd do that with is Clemons.

Smith can blanket Britt and there's no other real threat in the pass game. I'm not worried about CJ getting 120/130 yards just don't let him have a 200 yard+ 2/3 td day and force VY to beat us. I know VY is playing well but he's not Manning and with our pressure he'll make mistakes.

Offensively - part of Tennessee's turn around is the return of injured players in the secondary. So dropping back and throwing all day isn't the best idea. Their a fairly balanced defense that is good everywhere but not great anywhere. I well balanced offense will be the ticket, if our Oline can dominate then there's no reason to not abuse Williams and Hillard. Turnovers will be the key to this defense, aswell as scoring points - let me explain. Tennessee are not built to score alot of points, CJ can score in a hurry but he is more of a 2,3,4,3,4,67 kind of back. If we can score td`s and not fg`s they will really struggle to catch up to us forcing VY into some mistakes.
