It was Wanny's first year as coach. In his first year he went after players that had heart and the desire to win. If you compare that team to our current team on paper, you wouldn't be able to understand why that team was a playoff team and why this teams record is 1-6. But if you delve into the situation our problem is not talent it is leadership. Some of our key veterans carry no type of leadership. Some of these veterans that need to go are Chris Chambers, Randy McMichael, and others who are satisfied with lossing.

Chris Chambers and Randy McMichael have an enormous amount of talent but they never have fulfilled there full potential. Many times Chris Chambers gives up on plays. He also gives lame excuses as to why he is not performing. He is the first person I want to see traded this offseason. I am sick and tired of hearing his excuses. Our offense has struggled because of him. He drops so many balls and has not made any big plays this season. Its time to find a true number one receiver. I want a receiver who makes the clutch catches and will not publicly scrutinize our players for his lack of performance.

Randy McMichael was good a few years ago. He seemed to make at least two or three great plays a game. Now it seems like he causes more problems than his performance. The Green Bay game was evident of his poor play. We had a great chance to win that game but McMichael missed two easy catches that resulted in turnovers. That is completely unacceptable for a tight end. Especially after he made remarks about how he was disappointed he was not being thrown the ball more. I say if he does not play better than it may be wise to trade him also.

Many of you guys need to realize that talent does not make a good team. Before this season started, many sport analysts thought that this team would make it to the superbowl. Quite frankly I think this team could be a superbowl team. What we are missing is veteran leadership. If we are able to get that point, we need to get rid of those veterans who act as bad influences for the rest of the team. The nucleus of this team has the potential to live up to the expectations that are set on this team every offseason. We have certain players on this team who are cancers for the team as a whole. Its time to get rid of those players and get players who have heart.

Excellent points. Some have posted that the talent on this team is terrible. I don't subscribe to that thinking. Do the Jets have more talent than this team? Heck no. How about Houston, Green Bay and Buffalo? I don't believe New England has more talent either.
The problems with this team are above the neck. Based on talent alone this team should be 5-2 or perhaps 6-1 because I think they actually outplayed the Pats.

On defense: One problem is the guys with heart are guys who have been in the league awhile and are not coming cheap. Kevin Carter seems to be losing his pass-rush ability so I think it's time we sever ties with him during the off-season and let Matt Roth take over. Roth is a hulluva run-stopper. He just needs to get a pass-rush going.
Traylor is a great run-stuffer early in games but should be gone to retirement most likely this off-season so we have Wilkinson, Holliday (who impresses me with his batted balls and good pressure on the QB and he's cheap), in front of Fred Evans (our future at NT) and Vickerson (the future at DT along with Rod Wright hopefully). Zgonina is cheap and a leader but too old. He seems only good at stopping the run on 3rd and long when the team actually runs. No pass-rush anymore and no way is he a run-stopper on 1st and 2nd down.

Linebacker is a big weakness. Zach is down to the size of a safety. Not good when he's your MLB and leading tackler. Channing Crowder is the only bright spot. Derrick Pope is a ST demon and can fill the void when needed to start but is undersized and has been injured as of late. Spragan is looking more and more like Derrick Rodgers, you never hear his name which could be a good thing because it may mean he's not screwing up but he's obviously not making big plays either. And Keith Newman is ST and that's it, as is Keith Adams.

The secondary is too much right now to write about. I've gotta go eat...

I agree. When we had a strong tema mcmike wanst on our roster neither was CC but for a yr or 2 max if I reclal in which was mcmikes rookie yr then. The issue is great players blame themselves for situations and fix it but CC blames the ref for no calling PI. And I saw hagan d that 2 times last game which worried me with flashbacks of CC. CC always has an excuse so he doesn't see hius mistakes to fix n makes him think he is on top of his game when he isn't. Due to that personality, it makes him a good number 2 WR not a 1.

i agree with you only to a certain extent. New England is slightly more talented but the reason that makes them winners is because of their stout coaching staff and the amount of leadership the players on that team have. The dolphins do not have a good coaching staff or enough leadership which seperates them from the patriots.

This is a good post but, be ready for a serious rebuild, look how people are freaking out about the status of the team now. If these guys can put out, than there's other players that are dying for the chance to prove themselves. I think some of our players are not hungry, they feel they have their jobs in the bag, theres no swagger in some of them.

You whole paragraph on Chambers is completely ridiculous. Look at his 2005 season. He had a coordinator who put him in position to make plays, an OL who gave him time to get down field, and occasionally, a QB to deliever the football. I believe it was SliverPhin who created a thread showing Chambers stats this year and it is clearly not for him to blame. You won't find a better WR on the market next year than Chris Chambers. He is easily top 15 in the league and the other 14 won't be available. So please, tell me what you suggest we do.

What do expect out of a guy who in 6 seasons has had 8 differnt quarterbacks, and 5 differnt coordinators. How can any one possibly suceed under those circumstances. The problem isn't our skill players, it's our offensive line and secondary. I couldn't disagree more with most of your post.

McMichael needs to go....Chambers is good, but not for the money he got

so then maybe when we finally get an efficient QB he'll have no weapons... I completley disagree on your outlook for both players. I'm one of those people who sees the game from the WRs eyes, and while he has his occasional drop like every player, Chambers only problem is the system he's in. It really confuses me how people judge him lately... as if he was good enough to use magnetic force to draw the ball into his hands. People just don't seem to understand that as a WR you put yourself in a position to make a play and then it's up to everyone else... especially the QB to get the ball to you. Saying Chris hasn't made big plays like its mostly his fault is brainless. Randy has been a dropper and a fumbler but he still makes plays and we just resigned him.... trading him is highly unlikely and hardly rewarding.
Bottom Line : Randy and CC's trade value isnt worth what they mean to us...

We need DC to get healthy and we MUST put a DECENT OL in front of him, and commit to running the ball! If we do those things, and stop shooting ourselves in the foot, we will win games. We also need more help in the defensive secondary, we do NOT need to rebuild our WR's or TE, or DL. We need to draft a good LB to compliment ZAch and Crowder. We have most of the pieces, we just need to be smart and draft smart.

I really dont like the idea of giving up on Chambers. McMichael's contract is hard to deal with but ideally he should go. The team would be better off without his "leadership."

Can I add a few names to the list???.....

DE J. Taylor / LB Z. Thomas / DE K. Carter / DT V. Holliday / DT D. Wilkinson / K O. Mare / OT LJ Shelton / and OG J. James....

We could probably get a few decent draft picks for Taylor / Thomas, it would have been better trading them a year ago, but at least they're still worth something towards rebuilding the future. Better to do it now while we can still get something, because in another year or two, they wont be worth anything.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!
