Allen Iverson and Lamar Odom apparently will not have a second shot to win Olympic gold.

Iverson’s agent was informed by USA Basketball that he would not be among 25 players named to compete for spots on the team that will be participating in this year’s World Championships and the 2008 Olympics, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.

Odom, the Lakers forward, is also not on the roster, ESPN reported. The 25-man squad will be announced on Sunday by coach Mike Krzyzewski and managing director Jerry Colangelo.

Iverson should go definetley but Odom is dud and shouldn't be invited. Iverson was a Captain last time wasn't he?
 
AI never gets the love he deserves.....just like Barkley got snubbed by Coach Knight one year. I hope we don't select another "all star" team that won't play as a team.

Ridinor getting in over Iverson is absurd. Iverson gets a bad name. Next time Ridinor singlehandedly takes a team to the NBA finals let me know.

The whole point of Team USA now is to not have so much egos but to actually craft a well packed and strong workign team.... I wouldnt be surprised to se JJ redick there....
 
I heard about this and was dissapointed. They basicly call Iverson a ball hog, but then what do you call Kobe? Hypocrisy at its finest. Iverson has been and is still one of the best talents in the league and can only benefit an already stacked team USA.

yea the move to put Kobe on when youre building a 'team' that doesnt run on ego is pretty mystifying. Iverson got the shaft, no question about it. Larry Brown ruined the last run, refusing to play people that could have helped win games.
 
If you want to win you can't ahve AI and Kobe one the same team. Other then them 2 players there isn't a ball hog on the team. So they chose kobe over AI, who wouldnt?(and im the biggest kobe hater) Also the event isn't for 3 years AI is gonna be mid 30's by then wihile kobe willl still only be about 30
