J.D. Folsom released

Another Big Tuna failure! What a suprise.

Yes, we have had SO MANY misses in the draft since Parcells and Company have been here! I mean these last 2 drafts have been just awful. We really need those great minds like Cameron, Mueller, Wanstink and Speilman running the show again. Those guys knew how to draft!:rolleyes2:

^thank you. Most 7th rounders don't even get out of training camp never mind get on the practice squad (sorry developmental squad) This guy was active for a regular season game in his rookie season so I'm not getting why this was a bad pick (or failure). I guess our 7th's should be competing for rookie of the year in order to satisfy some of these fans.

You know he was just brought off the practice squad as a back-up while Crowder was out...there was no intention of keeping him on the active roster any longer than needed. It is back to the practice squad for him now that Crowder is returning...pretty simple actually.

The only failure was your comment...

I agree but any roster move is worthy of a thread (imho)

Honestly, it is too bad he got released before we even got a chance to see him play. I would love to see someone step up in a game at ILB...

Its a shame because Crowder has all the physical tools to be a great LB I'm just not sure he can wrap his head around all the mental details. It's the difference between just missing a big play and making it.

I like the Folsom project. He's from Weber State, thats like in Idaho or something lol.

I like the fact he was activated, he also outperformed William Kershaw, who was a STer last year, so whenever we are improving, im happy.

He's 6'3 230 at draft time, i wonder if Sparano had him bulk up, or is he staying light? i heard he was really good at covering the TE, so maybe they keep him light.

i never heard his name until draft day, i dont think he was anybodies radar, but they were saying he'd be an interesting SS/ILB hybrid. So sounds like some good TE coverage.

I wish he saw some playing time, kinda hard to get him in there vrs. the pats though since we were playing behind the whole game

Good post. I can see him being an impact ST'er, sort of like a bigger Larry Izzo type player in the future.

It's actually located in Ogden, Utah.

I know what you are saying, but what I don't understand is why is everyone so focused on Crowder when Akin Ayodele has done even less? If we can only replace one ILB for next season, I'd rather it be Ayodele, afterall Ayodele is only signed through 2011 while Crowder is signed through 2013. I know Crowder doesn't make any game changing plays, but Ayodele doesn't either, the funny thing about it, the only impact plays made this year between both of them is the 2 tackles for loss made by Crowder; none by Ayodele.

Eventually both of them need to be replaced, but Ayodele goes first in my book.

I was rooting for him when Crowder went down.. I guess we could use him and Roth at OLB Folsom gets to the TE while Roth or maybe Cam Wake gets some pressure

Expectations and mouth size. We don't expect much out of Ayodele and he just straps it on an goes out and plays...and actually is averaging more tackles per game than Crowder. Crowder on the other hand is supposed to be a team leader and is supposed to be playing at a higher level...and he is the one that talks crap that he can't back up. He is just like Porter in that regard.

Also, aside from the two tackles for loss...Crowder really hasn't done squat. 22 tackles in 6 games from a ILB? Really? That sucks. Not that Ayodele is much better...

The other difference is consistency. I see Ayodele as being in position more and uses his head...he just doesn't have the physical attributes to be much better. Crowder on the other hand is completely inconsistent. Sometimes you look at where he goes on a play and just wonder what the hell he was thinking. His instincts suck. His blitz attempts are pathetic. (Haven't seen Ayodele do many...so really can't compare that.)

Basically...we know what we have in Ayodele...a consistent average player...with Crowder we have player with elite skills who doesn't use them, a big mouth he doesn't back up, and a paycheck he doesn't earn.
