Happy Draft week, gang 🐬🌴

You can find my positional rankings in the Draft Forum, but here I want to highlight players I'm higher on than the consensus projections. I have them sorted by who I have ranked highest/would draft first. These do not take Miami's needs into account, and, frankly, I'm horrified at the prospect of Miami chasing needs this year. Seems inevitable, feels bad.

1. James Pearce Jr
2. Armand Membou

3. Derrick Harmon
4. Colston Loveland
5. Walter Nolen
6. Emeka Egbuka
7. Jalen Milroe

8. Xavier Watts
9. Carson Schwesinger
10. Tre Harris
11. Elijah Roberts
12. Tre Amos
13. Harold Fannin Jr
14. Josh Conerly Jr
15. Terrance Ferguson
16. CJ West
17. Darius Alexander

18. Wyatt Milum
19. Jared Wilson
20. Damien Martinez
21. Jalen Royals
22. Cam Skattebo
23. DJ Giddens
24. Bhayshul Tuten
25. RJ Harvey
26. Jalin Conyers
27. Tory Horton

How do you feel about Pearces character concerns? Love the athlete but I’m just not sure Miami would be a city he can flourish in, he needs a city like Buffalo where’s nothing to do and he can just focus on football imo. I really didn’t like the report that none of his coaches at Tennessee would want to draft him if they were going to the NFL, that to me speaks volumes about the guy.

Same question for Nolen, think he has the highest ceiling of the DL, any thoughts? I’m more ok with him because he seems like quiet type who’s just about the money, we can pay him more without taxes so less concerned than Pearce

I'm more concerned with Nolen's character than Pearce's, because you see varying effort from Nolen. Pearce Jr's motor is outstanding, and I've seen nothing that validates the rumors.

Yeah, I have yet to see anyone out in writing on here what these concerns are. A lot sounds like more than one...yet I haven't seen one.

Not sure if you got a chance to read thru the PFF Scouting thread I made the other day, but Bob McGinn in his rankings quoted scouts and these lines really bothered me and it came from 3 different sources.

Some scouts are worried about the guy. I was at a game and the guy was just a complete Lone Ranger. By himself on the sideline, standing 20 yards from anybody on his team. Didn’t look like he cared at all. Claims he was a captain and a leader and all that stuff, but it’s just one of those things that he might just have been anointed that versus earning it.

At Tennessee, he was literally a no-go. You ask somebody there: ‘Hey, if you had a chance to come to the league, would you bring this guy?’ They’re, like, ‘Absolutely not.’ On his own program. The whole team’s working out and he’s in his apartment. They didn’t know where he was.”

“There’s some concerns on the character,” said a third scout. “Lot of emotional outbursts and inconsistency”.

I love Pearce. Haven't seen anything connecting Miami, but that may mean nothing.

I think he's a 10+ sack a year guy. Those players are rare.

I like Wilson, too, and hope he gets to 48. I think he fits the Dolphins system well.

Can Loveland block? His receiving talent is obvious. I've seen him pretty consistently mocked to the Chargers.

I've been all over the net looking for what actually is James Pearce Jr issues or character concerns. I've seen nothing concrete or anything from a reliable NFL personna.

But I did read something from someone who claimed to know him. Saying he's an aggressive personality with an aggressive tone. Take this with a grain of salt, because I truly don't know what to believe.

What I do know is James Pearce Jr is an Ultra Elite player with a variety of pass rush moves, who doesn't get enough credit for his run defense.

It's a different story for Mike Green. He's been accused by 2 women at 2 different schools of inappropriate behavior.

In the case of Walter Nolen. He's been to 7 different schools in 6 years, since high school. Word is, he's a quiet but difficult personality. Again take all this stuff with a grain of salt. If Miami does pull the trigger on any of these kids, I'm pretty sure the Miami beat writers and reporters will be all over the negatives. Until then it is what it is.

My concern with Nolen would be that he's out the door as soon as free agency hits. Always looking for greener pastures. Maybe that's unfair, not knowing why he ended up at so many schools. But as a GM, and decision maker, part of the job is managing risk and that's an added concern.

In terms of Pearce, an aggressive personality is obviously great on the football field. But managing that personality off the field could be trouble. Again, assuming that's the real issue with Pearce.

Green would be off my board.
