J. O'Neal: Proposed Age Limit Racist

You are so way off it's not even funny. All it does is make the kids wait 1 or 2 more years and mature a little bit - maybe get educated a little bit..so it really doesn't matter. It's about $$$, CONTROL and responsibility.

How am I wrong? And this is in effect now (jumping from HS to NBA) and how is it NOT working. Lebron. Garnett.O'Neal. Livingston. Howard. Telfair. Harrington. Kobe,....etc....
OBVIOUSLY IT ISN'T HURTING THE GAME OR LEAGUE WHEN THE BIGGEST STARS NEVER WENT TO COLLEGE AND JUMPED STRAIGHT FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

If it isn't broke dont' fix it. Kids shouldn't have to wait, its a dumb rule. You can make millions of dollars, but wait. Why? No other profession makes people wait. It's un-american in every way shape and form. And who plays big brother telling people when to mature and that they need to mature? It's so idiotic on so many levels its laughable.

And if a kid jumps from HS to the NBA and isn't ready then he made a mistake and everyone makes mistakes and he has to live with that mistake. Colleges arent' going anywhere. Those big buildings are always there. So, if he takes his shot and misses he can always go back to school.

If a kid at the age of 18 or 19 has a chance to get millions of dollars and get his mom and dad out of the ghetto, who the hell are you or anyone else to tell them NO....wait a year or two!?! Their not mature enough. LOL, hell they are probably the most mature people out there knowing by getting a "real" job and hitting the courts for real they can make their lives better and their family's life better.

yeah, cuz we all know LeBron got that hummer cuz his moms credit was so good and her job could afford it.

Please, you site every exception to the rule and ignore the fact that it usually takes these kids several years to adjust, if they can adjust at all. (Desagne Diop anyone?)

Again, your making an argument as to why the rule is stupid and that's fine - any one can come up with reasons as to why an age limit makes no sense, BUT ITS NOT RACIST! Liberals: :nono:

It is racist since 99.9% of these kids are black. It's a rule to stop young black americans from earning millions of dollars.

That is incidental. In order for the rule to be racist, you would have to prove the intent. You cant

Its not racist, you just dont like the outcome. Or, if it is racist, then the NBA is racist, seeing the color mix on the court and on the bench. You can find racism anywhere if you look hard enough. Doesnt mean its really there though, youre just seeing what you want to :D

What wrong with Diop? Hes a millionaire. I sure wouldnt be complaining if I was given a guarenteed 10 mil over 4 years. You can retire at the age of 22.

The new rule would hurt players like Diop more than any others. He may of been a bust if he went to college and had some lousy coach.

yeah, and God knows the free education wouldnt have carried him anywhere. And what happens when he wastes the millions away and has nothing to fall back on? :shakeno:

The big picture people......the big picture.

Why assume he will waste the millions away? Talk about sterotyping! It's hard work to piss away that kind of money.

And with the millions he can pay for his education. :shakeno:

Yeah, because history shows us thats what these kids do when they waste all that money away (which by the way, everyone in his entourage gets a cut....agent...publicist...dog groomer...bling shiner)

Talk about stereotyping.... The point is if someone can get drafted in the lottery there is zero point to going to college. You get 10 mil and if everything goes wrong...you stink at basketball, throw all your money away....you still had a fun 4 yrs.

Where do you get this idea that kids like Carmello are going to school to get an education? If this 2 yr limit was put in place the kids would go to lousy acedemic schools like FSU, Ohio State, etc... and wouldnt take one useful course in their entire tenure.

Ya know what...fine....when it's your kid, make sure he arms himself with the quick buck, because Lord knows a degree won't get you anywhere for 45 years, but that contract his agent and everyone else is going to dig into...now thats what lasts. Live for today and screw tomorrow, thats what youre advocating? Yeah, thats real smart. At least in baseball, the smart kids get their college education paid for in addition to whatever they sign for.

And as far as stereotyping, i'd love to see all your examples of the kids that bucked my image. For every lebron, theres a 100 that dont make it. But hey Hell, why not throw away your best chance at making a future for yourself. Just have fun chasing that dream.......Lord knows people never have fun at college.

Colleges aren't going anywhere. Ever hear of them closing down? :shakeno:

Your chance to be a Top 10 NBA draft pick and make millions..........that's ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY!

You say, for every Lebron there are 100 that don't make it. BULLSH&T. Name them? I can give you an endless list of NBA stars who skiped college. Kobe, Telfair, O'Neal, Lebron, Howard, ....etc the list is so large now that its a joke they are even talking about this.

13 out of the last 22 players to go straight to the NBA from high school were non-african.

Those who think it is racism are blind.

European.

Im saying the blacks that do make the jump are succesful for the most part. So why stop them!

The argument for the league is that they are ruining the game. Most arent successful. Its not 100/1 but most that go straight from high school to the nba fail.

Ellis Richardson, Korleone Young, Leon Smith, Taj McDavid, Tony Key, Ousmane Cisse..... Somehow I doubt anyone knows who those guys are anymore.
