FiN.in.RI said:You are so way off it's not even funny. All it does is make the kids wait 1 or 2 more years and mature a little bit - maybe get educated a little bit..so it really doesn't matter. It's about $$$, CONTROL and responsibility.
How am I wrong? And this is in effect now (jumping from HS to NBA) and how is it NOT working. Lebron. Garnett.O'Neal. Livingston. Howard. Telfair. Harrington. Kobe,....etc....
OBVIOUSLY IT ISN'T HURTING THE GAME OR LEAGUE WHEN THE BIGGEST STARS NEVER WENT TO COLLEGE AND JUMPED STRAIGHT FROM HIGH SCHOOL.
If it isn't broke dont' fix it. Kids shouldn't have to wait, its a dumb rule. You can make millions of dollars, but wait. Why? No other profession makes people wait. It's un-american in every way shape and form. And who plays big brother telling people when to mature and that they need to mature? It's so idiotic on so many levels its laughable.
And if a kid jumps from HS to the NBA and isn't ready then he made a mistake and everyone makes mistakes and he has to live with that mistake. Colleges arent' going anywhere. Those big buildings are always there. So, if he takes his shot and misses he can always go back to school.
If a kid at the age of 18 or 19 has a chance to get millions of dollars and get his mom and dad out of the ghetto, who the hell are you or anyone else to tell them NO....wait a year or two!?! Their not mature enough. LOL, hell they are probably the most mature people out there knowing by getting a "real" job and hitting the courts for real they can make their lives better and their family's life better.
