What is everyone's thoughts on Jason Taylor this year? It sounds like he is going to be all over the freaking field so teams can't gameplan around him. It will be nice seeing him roam all over the line and jump back into a LB position occasionally. I can see Mawae sweating as we speak!

well this will be a great year cause of course JT will be double teamed and that will leave it open for Roth to seek and destroy. JT will still pawn the o-lineman this year, injured or not.

10-12 sacks
2 forced fumbles
1 Int
80-90 Tackels

i think Taylor could have a career year in terms of his all around game not just sacks.

100+ tackles
4 ff
3 fr
13 sacks
2 int's
2 defensive t.'ds.

and brings home the defensive player of the year award. Hey it could very well happen even if its not likely.

He will make who ever is opposite of him look good. I dont think Roth will get a whole lot of time this year. I read in the Sporting News that David Bowens was looking sharp playing in a LB role. He apparently had two very athletic INTs and is looking good rushing the passer. But once again this was in the Sporting News. Kevin Carter may have a career year as well. It'll be interesting to see what happens with our defensive front this year!

With moving around and playing in some spots other than DE I think his sack total will probably be down a bit. But because he'll be moving around he'll likely be involved in more plays. I see him off-setting the lower sack numbers by having more forced fumbles, etc. He should have a big year.

Numbers

I'm not going to try any numbers, but I do know this - with our D getting away from the vanilla they have been playing, and moving players around and adding deception to our packages, he will be a force! Other OC's will have to try to account for him, but won't know where he's coimg from. This should result in a great year for JT, and also the D as a whole.

Our D - :D

Thier O - :goof:

Our fans -

IMO with Jason's speed and moving him around using him in different defensive packages could result in him becoming defensive player of the year that catipults him into a bigger NFL star than he currently is. In turn it may make other teams look at college players or current players already on their roster in using them in the exact same way.

I think JT's year will depend on our DT situation. Strong DT play and JT will be running 1v1 or facing 1 OL and a back trying to chip. Weak DT play and he will be getting double teamed or will be chasing RBs from behind as the run through the A gap.

He may do things that are not noticed stat-wise by being everywhere involved in so many plays like you say. Maybe it will help Zach, (who may not be covered by 2 big tackles this year with a 3-4 alignment and Bowens and Chester out) to continue his "free to run and tackle" style of play.

I also think that it may help the defense overall, by having the opposition forced to change some things they do to account for all the JT possibilities. Stats are not always an accurate measure of the kind of year a person has. So, you might be right in saying even if his sacks go down, the payoff is still good for the team, whether it's forcing fumbles or intangibles.

with him playing some fronts as a linebacker i have to admit im excited to see it all work. I hope he gets big numbers no matter what, and I hope he's noted as one of the most authletic players in the league when its all said and done.
