I think we are going to be fine with Jay carrying the load next year. we do need someone behind him, but the kid can do it all. He fits what Gase likes. With limited opportunities last year Jay showed some good stuff.
Its not much, but the kid can do it.

If he can stay healthy, big IF. He can be a Marshawn player, if not better. go ahead and call me biased. I for one was happy we let lamar walk, and i believe that was the plan when we drafted jay last year

Seriously felt like I was watching a Mike Pouncey and Billy Turner highlight video. My god those 2 can move. Even Dallas had some nice blocks mixed in.

let's hope so. bring in a vet type backup on the cheap. i don't know what pitt paid d'angelo williams last year but a guy like that worked out perfect when Bell went down

I would be okay with him handling the rock all year. I could see taking Elliot at 13, but am also curious to see what J could do as the lead back.

There's no doubt he has ability, it's about staying healthy. He was banged up for a decent bit of the year last year and also had some medical concerns through the draft process.

The very first play of that highlight tape is a play that Lamar Miller would've scored on. Maybe the 2nd play, too.
But, the 3rd play is probably one that Lamar Miller Would NOT have scored on, so, there's that.

Based on that video, I think it would be insane to draft a 1st round RB. Ajayi has plenty of talent and he's definitely 'feature-back' material. Ajayi is 1/2 a rookie this season anyway because of the time missed last year.
I don't understand why that was ever a conversation. Also, I didn't realize how smooth his hands were. He catches the ball as if he's a magnet and the ball is metal. I'm pretty psyched to watch this guy next year.

What kind of back do you think we should get to compliment him? A short-yardage beast, or a scat-back?

I'm totaly fine with Ajayi but D.Williams needs to go. This guy can do nothing right. Suck returning too

Some people forget that Miller was just as unproven when he entered his first year as a featured back (his second season in the NFL). I think this is a very similar situaton and Jay could flourish when given the opportunity.

I'd still love to see him paired with Dixon from LA Tech though...

Ajayi has the talent to be our franchise back. But this will depend on two things: 1. His ability to stay healthy, and 2. His improvement in pass protection.

Dont get the concern about his knees? He's carried the ball nearly 800 times in games over the last 4 years and has never had a problem. As for his injury concern this year, he was ready to play i think after 4 or 5 games but the staff put him on the pup list forcing him to sit longer. I liked what i saw and while i was excited for CJ potentially coming or keeping miller, i dont see the need to pick up a vet. Would like to see a nice little speed back in the 4th or so to switch it up.

Some people forget Miller averaged 4.9 ypc behind the same line that Reggie Bush average 4.3 ypc. And this past season Miller ran for 4.5 ypc behind the same line that Ajayi got 3.8 ypc. I wasn't impressed with Ajayi but he's going to be the bell cow now so lets see if Tannenbaum's gamble pays off.

He is the reason Mangement wasn't going to overpay for Miller!

The conversation about Miller has been such that no one has forgotten about his 4.9 YPC....I don't think you need an elite RB to be a winning team and with scheme + the dynamic skill set of Jay I think we'll manage alright.
