Jack Del Rio: "Dolphins keeping Taylor"

Good. Move him to outside linebacker, and let he and Joey Porter torment opposing defenses. Merling, Ferguson, and Langford, Starks, or Roth can man the D-Line and stop the run, while our linebackers make plays...

anyone find it funny that in the PFT article it said that there have been no discussions regarding JT but Del Rio just said that they had discussed it. i figure that pretty typical just think its amusing

BP said from day one that he was not trading him. Nothing has changed since he said that. I hate the media making all this stuff up with very little substance.

I would like to see him moved. We could get picks out of him (3rd and a 5th or so) and he can get what he wants. He deserves to go to a team that he can help win a super bowl.

yeah i think now it would be for the rights of which ever player in the 1st or 2nd round

well the Fins are left with Jason Taylor. i do however think in another way this will be good for the dolphins. they will have a HOF who the young guys can look up to.

I am glad that it looks like we are keeping him. "But" I do believe Bill P would have traded him for the "right" price. That would be either a 1st rounder or a 2nd rounder plus extra picks. It is going to be a real interesting story line to watch as news leaks out from both the Taylor and Parcells camp about what really happened behind closed doors. I just bet Bill P and Jason Taylor got hard headed about what they wanted and that why we are where we are at.
Some team may have been willing to give a late 1st or 2nd for JT if he would sign a long term deal but he proably would not and Bill P was at least smart enough to realize that if you are going to trade a very productive player you need to get either another very productive player from another team or you deserve very high picks in the draft for that player. Lets face it the draft is like playing russian roulette a bit and the later you pick the more empty chambers you have in your gun and the higher you pick the more the gun is loaded so the chances of production go way up. JT regardless how many picks we would like in round 3 and below is not a good trade value for us. I believe at this point if JT comes around and decides he wants to play for awilie will be trade for another veteran like a WR. JT is not going to traded for picks he will either retire soon or be traded for a talented productive veteran from another team!

When playing Russian Roulette, wouldn't you WANT to have more empty chambers? I get what you're saying, but the analogy you used is a bit backwards.

When Parcells said he wouldn't trade Taylor, it was because a) he knew he wouldn't accept less than a #1 for JT, and b) that no other team would cough up a #1 for JT. So Parcells, always very precise with his wording, was accurate when he said Taylor wouldn't be traded.

Having said that, the front office has made it clear JT is not in the team's long-term future plans. JT has made it clear he doesn't want to go through the rebuilding. All the trade discussions were to prove to JT that he really isn't worth what he believed himself to be and to force his hand: either retire or shut up and play football.

And I expect he will be the new Parcells "the player."

One year and out, at best, Dolphin fans. JT will handle it with class but the ZT/JT/13-QB era is over in Miami.

Thank God.
