### Joe Philbin says there’s one thing in particular that Olivier Vernon needs to do, as he tries to boost his sack total back to where it was in 2013 (11.5) instead of where it was last season (5.5).

"One of the things we’ve been really preaching," Philbin said, "is his get-off consistency. He’s got really good power and strength. We’ve all seen that displayed at various times. He plays with good leverage. I think, at times, he kind of can lull guys to sleep and have a changeup move. I’d like to see him use his fastball more. He’s quick, he’s powerful. He still has that good changeup, but I’d like to see it be a true changeup and use that get off more consistently. I think he’s been working at that.”

### Players were off Monday, but one thing that bears monitoring is Kenny Stills’ calf injury, which has limited him.

Of Stills, Philbin said: “The players know their body the best. They are the guys out there and so we’re utilizing him as often as possible. If something is not right, we’ll cut it back a little bit.”

Stills' injury is bothering me. So is Parker's. If there was a unit I didn't want hurt it was WR. Stills is that extra dimension that we were supposed to have with Wallace gone

Good lord. He was limited one day with a sleeve on his calf.

Here come the over reactions. Parker is ready by week 1 and Stills will be ready before that.

Don't start the sky if falling bit until we lose our first preseason game at least guys :rolleyes2:

With Suh and Wake on the left side OV should get his sack numbers back into the double digits quite easily.

Stills actually has some what of a history with nagging leg injuries in his brief career! We def need him out there to open it up!

I'm not going to panic about anybody until the third preseason game. Even then, I'm not worrying about Albert and Parker because I already know they won't be suiting up. The concern with Stills is just that he and Tannehill develop chemistry, but I'm comfortable that it's going to happen.

If there is a unit where I feel like we can weather the storm, its WR. Our number 5 is a guy I still really like in Rishard Matthews and there are some potential contributors behind him just chomping at the bit to get a chance. Except for d-line I'm having a hard time imagining just where you think we could weather a storm better.

After those wave of injuries the other day across the league the other day, miami has nothing to complain about so far.

Stills is fine, and by all accounts Parker is at most a month away from practicing. You do realize that week one isn't until Sunday Sept. 13th, right? Today is August 4th. Parker will more than likely get two full weeks of practice before week 1 and be ready to contribute... From the jump he should at the very least be a possession and red zone weapon imo, but I probably like him more than most.

Here's my takeaway from the Stills' calf injury:

A lot of people questioned the Greg Jennings signing. Boy does it look good now or what?

Wallace missed a lot of camp with hamstring issues, what's your point.

Ooooh. How about we make OdB Jr an example of a successful WR that missed time early on. Anyone, really.

Let's stray from examples of the punk ass POS quitter if you want to shed a positive light on something.
