...well Jacob Rogers was cut by the Cowboys yesterday..or today..whatever.

Anyway...I was wondering if anyone thinks that he is worth bringing in for a tryout. He's a big LT prospect taken in the second round 2 drafts ago and was supposed to be challenging for the RT spot on the Cowboy line this year (of course, I don't know if that's good or bad :) )

Anyhow...the only info I know about the guy is that well, he was taken in the second round two drafts ago (see above :) ) and that he plays RT. Now, I do recall when he was drafted and I always thought that while he was good he was a project. I also was suprised that he was taken in the 2nd round as most scouting services had him as a 3rd rounder and even a couple as a 4th. Basically, it seemed they overdrafted him just a bit....I'll look to see if I can find some articles on the guy.......

...personally, I don't think he's an all-pro or anything (obviously, or he wouldn't have been cut) but I see nothing wrong with bringing him in for a tryout....it won't cost us anything to run him through a couple of drills....maybe Saban will see something in the guy....then again....maybe not.

Nevermind....here's the 1st thing I ran across when I did a search on Rogers at rotoworld......

..Dallas released T Jacob Rogers.
The writing was on the wall for Rogers after owner Jerry Jones hinted that the tackle could have put off microfracture knee surgery until after this season. Rogers, a second-round pick, is the highest selected 2004 draft pick to be released.

since the days of hiding hurt players ended during Joe Gibbs pre-Hall-of-Fame career...he's not worth signing to anything now.

Definitely should not be considered just yet. He has some serious issues with staying healthy.

I likely should have checked more than my orginal source..just a waiver wire...before I posted it up there because sure enough...the 1st site I looked at, Rototworld, had the up-to-date info on why he was actually cut.

Parcells often made comments about Rogers showing signs of a special lineman, but he grew frustrated with his toughness and ability to stay healthy. I do think he was cut prematurely, you just don't give up on a 2nd round pick after one year mostly based off injury concerns. I'd like to see us give him a look in the future, but not until he fully recovers from the injury that has been keeping him off the field. Unfortunately, its likely another team will take a chance on him soon.

from the quote on Rotoworld it appears that Jerry Jones had as much issue with Rogers surgery as Parcells, if not more.

the interesting thing is that his line coach at USC, Tim Davis, is now Hudson's assistant here..

could it be worth us signing him and have him on our injured reserve??

I wouldn't mind that at all..
