Jacory named Starter for 2009?

Harris will be the starting quarterback for Miami entering 2009, and it's unclear what Marve will do. Marve started 11 games, missing only the season opener and season finale because of separate one-game suspensions, and is believed to be considering a transfer. It's not clear what, if any, impact Nix's ouster will have in that decision

Jacory has NOT been named the starter for 2009. However, I fully expect him to be named the starter during spring training.

Robert Marve WILL transfer and I have this from a very credible source. And just to end all speculation, he will NOT transfer to South Florida.

Jacory will practically have NO competition for the job next season with Marve gone and I don't expect Shannon to play the quarterback merry-go-round next season with Harris and Cook or Cannon.

I like Jacory, not the typical UM QB but i think he has potential to be a great QB

IMO, i think he needs to go to a school like Alabame where theres nothing to do for him to get into trouble. Schools like UM and UF get that type of kid into a mess. He thinks hes a hot shot and all hes doing is ruining himself. I can care less if he leaves, was never a big fan of him

We were hoping to get Aaron Murray from Plant High in Tampa. He is the guy who came in behind Marve after he left Plant and a lot of people say he's better than Marve. Unfortunately, Murray is a solid commit to Georgia. I believe he's from Georgia actually but don't quote me on that.

As far as the upcoming class, I just posted in the Recruiting thread about AJ McCarron from Alabama. He's a soft Alabama commit for now but has a 'Cane offer on the table if he wants it. McCarron says he grew up a HUGE Hurricane fan and looks up to Ken Dorsey. McCarron has pretty much the same build as Dorsey and Harris as well. He's 6'4 190. He's bigger than Jacory but similar in style. He's visiting Coral Gables the last weekend of January so we'll see what happens.

There's also AJ Highsmith who is the son of former Hurricane great, Alonzo Highsmith. AJ is only a two-star recruit and it's still unclear as to whther or not he will play quarterback for Miami when he gets here. He is a solid 'Cane commit, though.

There's also Blake Bell from Kansas. Blake is supposed to be the cream of the quarterback crop for 2010. He's apparently great friend with Bryce Brown and Arthur Brown as they all three are three of the greatest high school players in the history of the state of Kansas. if there's anyone you guys need to start praying for, it's Blake Bell. He is THE ideal quarterback. 6'6 200lbs. Dual-threat quarterback at that. VERY exciting player. He currently only has three official scholarship offers (Arizona, Kansas State, Miami) but you gotta believe he'll get an offer from just about every Big 12 school thee is plus all of the major programs in the country.

How soon until the Mavre decision? It seems to me the sooner this happens before signing day the better especially if we have a QB or 2 on the bubble.

Who knows man. But Shannon is saying it's pretty much a done deal. The fact that his dorm room is empty says decision to me lol....unless you mean decision on which school he's transferring to? That I wouldn't know. I imagine Marve won't be talking to anyone in Miami until he's ready to tell Randy where he wants to go. So if I hear anything it'll be rumors and nothing more probably. I'm not a fan of posting rumors because it hurts my credibility. I'll tell you where I think he's going etc., but I won't standby anything unless I get it from my credible sources. I said McNeal would probably transfer to TCU because that came from Shawnbrey himself. Sure enough, Shawnbrey is headed to TCU. I doubt I'll hear anything from Marve himself ever again. He seems to have a lot of animosity towards Miami now.

I just meant leaving in general. I would hate to think a recruit wouldn't sign here because they thought there might be a logjam at QB or not got a fair shot. Do you think Taylor Cook will get a good look this spring?

Taylor Cook and Cannon Smith will get some reps in spring ball but I don't think they'll see significant playings time during the season barring an injury to Jacory Harris. I expect Cook and Cannon to compete for the backup spot.

Jacory and Marve seem like polar opposites...

While Marve has the superior arm....Jacory has the intangibles...

Jacory Harris' lack of arm strength will present challenges for him his entire career....but I think Miami is better off in the long run with him than with Marve...I've never bought into the Marve hype...I never trusted him from the get go...he's average IMO....not NEARLY as good as he thinks he is...

If their goal is to run a Pro-Set offense next season, then he's not the right fit. He's a better fit for a Spread Option/Spread Offense.

I'm not really a fan.
