According to rotoworld:
The Jaguars are "believed" to be willing to give up only a third-round pick for Jason Taylor, according to the Miami Herald.

That isn't going to get it done. Even if the Jags offered their second-round pick, the Dolphins would probably balk. If Jacksonville won't part with its first-rounder (No. 26 overall), the team could try a package. We suspect Bill Parcells will at least want their second-rounder and more

I would like too see Jason traded, but that's not fair value at all.

like wise.

I think he'll try to milk a 2nd and a 5th or a 3rd and a 4th dont they have 2 3rds?

i dont know, it's not good enough... but if JT does have a bad year than his value will drop even more! so it's up to Parcells to make that decision...

They need to part with that late second . . . and some more . . . they should just give us #26 and call it a deal . . . they are Super Bowl contenders if Garrard doesn't regress . . . they just need a pass rush from the DE spot. . . JT equals problem solved.

In all seriousness though. Let's say we balk. I agree Taylor should be worth more. We keep Taylor he goes on to retire after the season and pursues a career else where.

What did we gain by not taking the 3rd? I am not trying to be argumentative I am just trying to see the point in being stubborn. Don't get me wrong, I say hold out as long as we can, make them, or atleast attempt to get more.

However, if at the last minute, that is the best offer, what would be the point of not taking it?

ya thats how im seeing it as well.

Jason has more on his mind(legs) than playing for the fins! Get whatever we can for him now! The tuna will see to that!

Well, most people will try to tell you that what we gained by not taking the third round pick is another season of Jason Taylor as a Miami Dolphin. That's all well and good, and it might make you feel warm and fuzzy for a season. However, the reality is that it doesn't benefit the team in the long term, and that's not right for the guys who still have a long career as Miami Dolphins ahead of them.

Personally, I would have a hard time pulling the trigger if a third round pick was all that they're willing to give. Are they so cheap that they can't afford to throw in fifth or sixth round pick as well? I mean, we traded Surtain for a second and a fourth in 2005. Jason would be a steal for a third and fifth round pick. Maybe teams are apprehensive because of Jason's post 2008 retirement rumors. Hence the unwillingness by some clubs.

We would be stupid to accept that "lowball" offer with 3 weeks left before the draft....A Pro Bowl pass rusher is a huge asset.

We either keep him or get atleast a 2nd and a fourth.
