Jags to cut Jones, Dolphins Interested ?

Jacksonville "appears to be ready to cut ties" with Matt Jones, according to beat writer Michael C. Wright.

Jones is low on the depth chart and has been missing some practice time with his typical nagging injuries. He would be an intriguing waiver claim because Jones' base salaries are only $625,000 and $565,000 in 2008 and 2009, respectively. The Cowboys, Dolphins, and Browns might have some interest.

I have been following this story for days, seems like we might have some interest. Hope he is picked up and given a chance. It will defitnetly not hurt us.
 
Hope not, he stinks. Besides, we already got a Jag reciever in Wilford.

im borderline....

on one hand...I dont want him because hes a bust and he sucks.....but on the other,he is tall,strong and very,very fast for a 6'5" WR....I just dont know.....:unsure:
 
why not? He might be a better QB then all the QB'S we have now. Oh WR!!!! Um, nah. The Jags pass offense isn't really stellar we already got a #3 in Wilford from them why would we want Jones?
 
Jones would be a good signing. He'd be cheap and would bolster our recievers on the depth chart from 3-5. Looking at our position we really could use a guy like jones, he isnt a #1 reciever but would still be able to contribute on our team.
 
If he can leave any attitude or expectations behind and just come in and work his butt off, I'd be fine with it. If he's good enough to earn a spot more power to him.
 
The two guys worth bring in right now are, Lecharles Bentley and Matt Jones in my opinion. Lecharles bentley can be move to guard and Matt Jones can be our 4th or 3rd reciever.

Exactly.

If he can be picked up for basically free and has those kind of cap numbers, whats the risk? Former 1st rd pick that is is 6-5 and 230+ lbs? Give the guy a fresh start and see if he can work hard enough to stick.
 
Usually I hate when the topic comes up of "X player was cut, should we sign him?", but I actually would be for picking him up. Lets face it, our depth at WR is not very good, and Matt Jones would be an interesting player to bring in to compete. I am for it.
 
As a waiver claim, why not? It's not like Miami is loaded with great WRs. Two WRs who have a clear hold on roster spots, and a bunch of guys.
 
I disagree with most of you. Despite all of the hype in Jax saying their wr's are overrated, etc... I really think they were just fine at wr with Williams, Jones and Wilford. Their problem was that their qbs all stunk. Lefty was well... Lefty. There's a reason he can't land a job now, and Garrard just looked that much better because it isn't hard to look better than Lefty. Garrard has an average arm and their offense still finally started to click... heck Gray actually ran the offense fairly well for a second. There's a reason why Jones was a converted qb to wr and if i remember correctly a first rounder. I've seen this guy make SPECTACULAR grabs and he's a big strong wr. Having played opposite Wilford can't hurt either. If we snag him... STEAL. And as much as I hate the "get everyone who has been cut" posts, this one is legit.
 
HELL YESS. This dude just never put in any effort and with the Jags. But he does have talent. I'd take him of waivers in a heartbeat. With our ****poor wideout depth? Hell yea.
