I knew it was bad but geez. Hopefully he can find a way to overcome this. I wish him and his family the best of luck.

For the first time since Jaguars lineman Richard Collier was shot early on the morning of September 2, there is information on his condition.

Dr. Andy Kerwin says that Collier has 14 identified bullet wounds, including 5 to his urinary bladder and 2 to his lower spine, one of which left him paralyzed from the waist down.
These were life-threatening injuries, and he developed a blood clot which required the amputation of his left leg above the knee.

Damn thats sad as hell man. Thoughts and prayer go out to him.

Holy smoke, and he still lived. He's definately got an angel looking over him. I feel for that man and his family, hopefully he comes thru!

Amputation? Wow.

And, not to be crass, but he wasn't a good enough player to make a nice hunk of cash to live off of comfortably. He is going to have a tough time financially.

UPDATE...
Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier, paralyzed from the waist down following a shooting in September, has been released from the hospital.

"He's going to have a long, difficult rehab," Del Rio said. "We just want to be there, help support him. I just thank God he's alive. When I saw him the day after he'd been shot, I really did not think that there would be a day when he would get out of the hospital. He was in bad, bad shape.

That is really sad. It's things like these that no matter how you may feel about a team or a player, you gotta put all that aside and say a prayer that he survived. I wish him and his family the best in these difficult times.

He also had to have one of his legs amputated, not that he's going to need it.

Finally some good news comes from all of this....

A man authorities say was seeking revenge has been arrested in the shooting of Jacksonville Jaguars offensive lineman Richard Collier that left him paralyzed below the waist.
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Frank Mackesy said at a news conference that 32-year-old Tyrone Romaro Hartsfield was charged Saturday with attempted murder. Hartsfield was being held in the Duval County Jail without bail and it could not immediately be determined whether he had an attorney.
Police say Hartsfield wanted revenge after he and Collier fought in April outside a nightclub.
