The Dolphins see him at LT...Wow...I figured they would say that they would see where he fits best after training camp...but they immediately slot him in at LT...

If for some reason he were so struggle i'm sure they'd switch him to the other side. It's certainly not permanent.

They certainly paid him like a LT. For PR sakes I wouldnt think they would say anything other than that.

I CANT WAIT TO SEE HIM FACE OFF AGAINST JASON TAYLOR IN TRAINING CAMP!!

Hmmm. I think if BP and Sporano see him as a LT, he is a LT. But then again, thats what some of us have been saying all along.

Personally, I think people get way too caught up in the LT vs. RT stereotypes. First of all, not all LT's are twinkle toes guys. Sparano coached Flozell Adams to multiple Pro Bowls, and Flozell uses a huge wing span, technique and strength to keep runners off the edge. Walter Jones really isn't nearly as athletic as he used to be, again he uses mostly wingspan and strength to protect the edge and push pass rushers wide. Frankly, there have been a couple of offensive tackles drafted in the past couple of years based solely on their supposed "footspeed" and they suck (DeBrickshaw, Robert Gallery). Offensive lineman is still a position of winning at the point of attack, no matter what kind of "feet" you have.

Second, you need good pass blockers on both sides in today's NFL. The idea that you just need a great pass protecting LT and you can stick any ole' behmouth at RT is an antiquated viewpoint, IMHO. First of all, most teams these days try to put good pass rushers on both sides. Strahan/Osi. Freeney/Mathis. Merriman/Phillips. Teams with just one pass rusher rarely just leave him strictly on the weakside ... most of them flip them from side to side looking for the best matchup. You better have guys on both sides that can pass protect against an elite pass rusher.

SO DAMN HAPPY!!

WOO-HOO!!!

This guy is a MOUNTAIN! Did you see how humble and focused he was at that press conference? The most exciting day of his life and he's as cool as can be!

Man, he's gonna be GREAT in high pressure situations!

GO PHINS!!

We've got a LEFT TACKLE now, Beotches!!!

YEAH!!

Well its not a big surprise, not only did we pay him LT money and pick him first, but carey has said he likes RT more. (not to mention he is better at RT). It make complete sense for him to be LT, why hide it?

Bingo. These two will compliment each other well, and hopfully will be staples of our team for years.

That is absolutly what they have to say....with the money he is making saying otherwise would be like drafting matt ryan 1st and saying- we see him as a punter... too much money for a punter

You are kidding right? Well let's see....he was a starting left tackle at a big ten powerhouse and gave up 2 sacks in his career! That sounds like he will suck at left tackle to me!!! put him at guard!!!!

interestingly enough, reminds me of the previous regime drafting a wr at #9 and labeling him a punt returner

By virtue of his contract, there was never a doubt that he would the starting LT. Parcells, Ireland and co would never have been able to justify giving that kind of money to a RT.
