With the recent reports of Derrick Harvey shooting up the draft boards, I went on youtube to watch this guy.. first video i saw was "Jake Long vs. Derrick Harvey" and man, Jake Long absolutely manhandled this guy.
Harvey tried bull rushes, spin moves, anything and got absolutely nowhere... Long looks like a man among boys out there against a potential top ten pick in Derrick Harvey. Amazing.

first of all i LOVE HOW HENNE steps into his throws but there is only 1 reason why he does that, BECAUSE THAT O LINE gives him time and room to do so unlike our crappy line.
2nd, man does JL adjust to Harvey within plays and own him after taht first bull rush where he got pushed back. SOrry but JLONG looks like a monster out there.
 
On those outside runs Long just collapsed the left side of the line.
 
I hadn't seen that video before.

It makes me feel alot better about Jake, he was outstanding
 
I doubt Robert Gallery looked THAT solid before the draft...Jake is our man!
 
Jake looked AWESOME!!!!!!....against a potential top 15 pick! :up:
 
the way they were talking about Gallery today on NFL radio it sounds like he lacked the functional strength that Jake has(thanks to his massive mitts and long arms)

the Bengals OL coach said that if a OT can't keep his man off of him(with long arms and functional strength) he had better be able to keep him near him(control him with his hands). this may be the secret to Jake's success

that actually made sour on harvey alittle more. harvey has a ways to go technique wise with his hands. he played too tall on those running plays. when he gets low and gets some leverage he can surprise with his strength like he did on the first play they showed. took himself out of one play with a spin move which either he mis read it and thought it was a pass or just used the wrong move at the wrong time.

didnt see anything new with long. i know the guy can run block. still saw an average kick slide. at the 32 second mark, the guard was there to help with an inside move if needed. henne gets that ball out quick too. about 3 seconds after the snap and its out. that helps alot in pass pro.

all in all nothing earth shattering but good video none the less.
 
I've come around about drafting Jake Long, but we don't need Henne. I'd much rather give Beck another chance than spend a high draft pick on Chad Henne.
 
i saw bits&pieces of that game when it was played to get a better look at Long because my bro&i were talking about potential Dolphin draft picks,and Jake absolutely owned Derrick,and Harvey isn't any slouch at pass rushing,plus i'm a Florida Gators fan also.
