In week 1 the Dolphins play the jets. Everyone knows that Jake struggles against speed rushers and the only sack that Jake let up was against Gholston. Who do you think will have the better game against each other (and don't be bias)?
 
Defenses always look better early in the year while offenses struggle to get in synch.

I think Gholston will make a few plays but Long will show why he was the first pick in the draft.

Everyone does not know that. In fact, other than the one sack he gave up he actually got the better of Gholston.
This alleged struggle against speed rushers was addressed in another thread and was largely discounted.
In fact, during the combine Long surprised everyone with his agility and footspeed.
 
Gholston is gonna have to learn the playbook 1st. I heard he is wayy behind and hasnt looked sharp in coverage...

and ill take the 10 pancakes long is gonna do on gholston over that 1 sack.. Ronnie and Ricky gonna have some major Runnin Lanes!~:woot:

I agree. Once Long adjusted to Gholston he couldn't get by him and had to move to the other side to get at Henne.
 
lets say Gholston lines up on long everytime.. witch won't happen...
He probably has to pass block what 15-20 times.. ?
He will push around whoever is there at run blocking...
0 sacks for him

i'm not so sure Gholston will see extensive playing time in week 1. he will probably get a few snaps, but for the most part, i'm expecting Thomas and Pace out there
 
More than likely, and unless the jets somehow became a better team overnight they are not that good.
 
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Miami is going to run the ball right down the Jets throat. I think when it comes to passing Miami will use the short passing game until the line begins to gel. Also I think McCown will get the start. Not b/c he's the best we have, but b/c he is mobile and can throw on the run. That might be useful for the first part of the season.

The Jets run a 3-4. I'm pretty sure VG is playing OLB for them. Pace plays essentially the same role Joey Porter did in Pittsburgh and hopefully this season for us.
