I’ve had several e-mails regarding the Cameron Wake story Sunday, particularly regarding the statement that no CFL defensive player has ever come down to the NFL and made an impact. Readers have pointed out that, of all teams, the Dolphins had such a player, as Jake Scott played for the BC Lions in 1969.

Jake Scott was CFL star - just not on defense

good find although that was an era when CFL competed for players unlike now where the CFL is a last resort for players.

What??? Are you confusing the USFL with the CFL?

hummm ? i'm sorry but do you even watch some CFL football ?

i'm not a huge fan at all, but living here, i watch a few alouettes game here and there, and IMO the talent level in the CFL has gone up a notch especially in the last 5 years...

1- the end of NFL europa took a lot of football players back to north america, wether in the AFL, CFL or NFL

2- the cfl came back to 8 teams when the ottawa franchise was dismantled (again), so that takes 53 jobs away, getting the good players on that team elsewhere, and taking out a few punks

3- football in canada is getting better and better, mostly because the coaches are becoming more and more competent, and also because a lot of young canadians are discovering the sport. So the 10 canadians rule (if that's the exact number) is no longer a burden, as it was before. Canadian players coming out of college are getting better and better at the game

Who said no CFL defensive player every made an impact in the NFL? That's not true. Heck, even I know that..Though I did not know Scott was in the CFL. A little reading though puts him in the same class as Cousineau. They both went to the CFL by choice, not because they could not get offers by the NFL. Scott was drafted by the Dolphins in 1970, which means it was his first year draft eligible...Otherwise he would've been a FA.

Biggane and his CFL source both blew it in the article, and he has been scrambling to justify ever since.

His first position after I emailed him, was that Scott's one year did not count.....

I watch CFL football every damn week and have watched it every chance I get. The percentage of players that make it in the NFL in the league is pretty damn awful. I do agree there are some solid players.

A real travesty the way Jake Scotts career in Miam ended. He and Anderson were a killer pair.

It's a burden for me I think this CDN content rule holds back the league and awarding points for failure is cheesey
