Jamar Chase Smackdown

there ain’t no value in it. And yeah miamis learning that lesson right now. He should be paid dirt money as a return specialist only really.

igbo returned kick offs in college there’s absolutely no added value or justification for that first round pick in his returns game. It’s all in the corner play. If he blows at corner it don’t matter what he does as a returner (which with the rules now kickoffs barely ever get returned anyways)

Deion Sanders returned kicks and punts also but either how there isn't any value for this team to have anyone drafted high to do something a 4th or 5th receiver is able to do. Besides, when Deion Returned punts they didn't have the rules we do now.

deions not in the hall because of his returns play. Devin hesters not in the hall because of his corner play. If there was a hall for returns devin Hester would be in it. But his corner play was never up to snuff

i think there’s a possibility he’s there at 18
If the eagles are indeed drafting a QB then look at the top 10 picks to be nothing but Qb's, and offensive linemen. The Patriots don't need to draft any defensive players, and if Waddle is there at 15 then I would expect them to draft him. The only reason why I don't see the Patriots drafting waddle is because they drafted Pitts. And what are the chances of Pitts falling there? Who knows, at this moment I would prefer to draft a defensive player with our 18th. Whoever is the best defensive player at 18th we should grab him, specially if it's Micah Parsons. Zaven Collins should be available, and also Owusu. We can draft a receiver in the 2nd round. Marshall Jr. hopefully would be available there.

I haven’t talked to any scouts that saw Chase as the best receiver on his team or in the entire country. Nor did Chase clearly outclass Jefferson stat wise. The stats were pretty close. Jefferson just had more receptions because he’s the one they went to when they needed to get a 1st down. His hands were more reliable.

Chase isn’t better than Jefferson in my opinion. They’re both very good receivers.

Whether or not Smitty broke Chase’s touchdown and yardage record doesn’t really matter. It’s just a talking point. Neither one can take any of those yards or touchdowns with em to the NFL. The records aren’t what makes Smitty what he is. He’s the same receiver with the same skillset with or without breaking Chase’s records.

He can do special things a lot better and a lot more consistently than everybody else. That’s why he has all those records and a Heisman Trophy.

He even took over a lot of the routes out of the backfield that were designed for Waddle. He has the speed to outrun defenders and angles that are required of those routes. Smitty had the skillset to play all of Alabama’s receiver spots.

Including taking over for Waddle as punt returner and proving to be just as dangerous.

I doubt Chase is returning any punts.

Are you trying to say Marshall Jr. is better than Chase? Well he will be there in the 2nd round lol.

I like the idea of bolstering our lines. OL Sewell first, Meinerz/Humphrey in the 3rd.
DL snag Rousseau @ 18th (if there) or Phillips early second. Maybe get a great value pick in the 4th like Rashad Weaver.

I'm not that impressed with any of the supposed top three receivers to justify a top ten pick. I like Rondale Moore and Rashad Bateman, if we get lucky enough for Bateman to fall into the second round.

I'm a fan of Najee Harris, but not at 18th. I think one of Travis Etienne or Jhavonte Williams will still be on the board by pick #50. Michael Carter, who's no slouch, would be a solid third round pick if we don't get an RB in the second.

The only problem is i don't see Humphrey being there in the 3rd nor do i see Phillips bring there in early R2.

I don't usually target WRs top 10 but the talent this year at WR combined with the lack of talent Top10 at DL/Rush, not needing CB (at the moment) and having just drafted a QB who struggled mightily and needs weapons changed my willingness to consider WR that high.

I cannot argue any of your points he is a special player and the only questions are about his size, certainly not his passion, desire or heart. You are probably right in the punt returner part, although as a coach I am not spending a #3 pick on a guy to get hurt returning punts. I can find someone a lot lower on the food chain for that.
For all I know Chase could be a Prima Donna, just seems to have one Hell of a ceiling as made by the fact that we are comparing him to guys like Smith and Jefferson who are both a couple years older. Tough call and one that would be made easier if we trade down a few slots and one of them is gone. If people are right then both will be successful and we will be good either way. I don't have much faith in Grier anyways at this point I and many others will be disappointed when we do not get either one.

I'm with you on everything except for Sewell's run blocking. From what I've seen, he destroys people.

Back to Chase, I'd love it if Miami gets him, Smith or Waddle. I think Smith might be the best fit, but the Dolphins can't go wrong with any of these three.
They can go wrong, The phins need a slot receiver and his name is Jalen Waddle to help Tua out, those other receivers are great but Waddle seems to be a lot more of a receive that can find holes in zone coverages which is great for endzone action.

Waddle would be great.

I don't have time to listen to this guy rant for hours, but I did listen to the part you pointed out. If he thinks Ja'Marr Chase had trouble against press ... LMAO, well he can't possibly rate Waddle and Smith!!!! That's just a total non-sequitur.

He loves Penei Sewell ... guess he doesn't want his tackles to run block. Good prospect as a pass protector, but there is a real argument that there are 3 top echelon OT's, and any of the three could turn out to be the best, and we will likely see at least one of them fall out of the top 10.

Watching Chase I see a very strong NFL prospect. If he is worried about beating press coverage--a very valid concern for any WR entering the NFL--then the conclusion should be that Chase is his preferred WR ... but for some reason, he ignores the indicators.
Chase overrated and cannot beat press coverage? LOL. That’s one of the most ignorant things I’ve ever heard. He’s unstoppable vs press, especially running a slant, where he physically beats press man and takes it to the house. SMH

The more I read phins news the more I won’t be shocked if the phins go w parsons. Free agency will determine draft.
