I came across highlights from every Panthers game last season; check out the clips and remember that James is #78, the Left Guard. Since there are 20 games in total, there are about 60-70 plays where you can view our newest addition. What I noticed, personally, is very unique mobility for a guard; he is outstanding on the sweep plays. He also has an excellent motor as I saw him pancake a guy, get up, and race down the field for another block on a few occasions. Also, in short yardage situations, he tends to drop right down to the ground and take out one or two guy's legs. This seemed to be very effective for the Carolina short-yardage ground game. Finally, I like his alertness as a blocker; he will react to the defenses scheme. For example, a few times I saw the man lined up across from him drop into coverage and you will see him quickly look if there is a blitzing man, and if not jump right in on a double team. As far as negatives go, he plays a little upright as pass blocker and this causes him to get pushed back once in a while in pass protection. But he comes off the ball so quick, he's aggressive, and very mobile. 27 years old and a great upside. I'm very excited; he reminds me so much of Jamie Nails in 2002.
