If it comes down to deciding do you keep six wide receivers (Landry, Parker, Jennings, Stills, Matthews and Hazel) or four running backs (Miller, Williams Ajayi and James) which way are you leaning? James brings value as a returner and beyond his return production he also allows Landry to stay off the field for returns and avoid possible injury. Hazel might have the brighter future, but baring injuries I see him inactive a lot if he's on the 53-man roster. However, with Parker returning from injury, Stills having issues with his hamstring during cam and Jennings age it might make sense to have a sixth receiver on the roster for at least the first four or five games. Both play could be stashed on the practice squad, but with some of the receiver injuries around the league you run a good chance of losing Hazel. James isn't s likely to be poached, but the main reason for having him would be as returner and emergency back and being on the practice squad would seem pointless.

I think they both have a good chance due to the ealth of Ajayi and Parker, but if I had to pick one I go with James.

I'd rather go with Hazel.

Assuming Parker is inactive for beginning of the season there will be times a 5th WR will be needed especially if there is another injury to any other wide out. LaMike James and/or some other RB will be available off the streets if needed.

There isn't a demand for RBs out on the market and there are some solid ones who are jobless. I don't think LaMike James is a difference maker but I do think he is a nice fit in this offense but not enough to make me choose him over Hazel.

I wonder if Miami goes 2 TE and keeps 4 RB and 6 WR?

I think teams run too many double tight end sets to get away with just having two tight ends on the roster. I think going with only three is pushing it.

Right now I'm thinking
2 qbs, 4 rbs, 3 tes, 6wrs and 9 ol. But if I had to sacrifice one of the players it might be the sixth wr.

To me the decision is between Ajayi and Gilleslee for the 4th spot and I would keep Gileslee because he can actually contribute if need be unlike Ajayi. Hazel should be in because he scores and LeMike is in as #3 rb.

It's not necessarily one or the other. Matthews could be gone somehow opening a spot for Hazel. Ajayi could go to IR since he hasn't shown anything.

Gillislee can actually contribute? Based on what? His 6 carries and 21 yds in 2013??

In this scenario, Hazel.

Not a fan of James's ability at this level and would rather retain our own and develop Hazel.

Ajayi isn't going anywhere. Especially in regards to Gillislee.

If LaMichael James does well in the next preseason game, then I'll go with him.

1) LaMichael James is more likely to be poached off the practice squad (2nd rd draft pick with 4.4 speed and 5,000+ rushing yds at Oregon, plus return ability). It would be much easier to stash Matt Hazel (6th rd draft pick from small school Coastal Carolina) on the practice squad.

2) We have a greater need for RB depth (Jay Ajayi isn't ready for the NFL, and Damien Williams is a 3rd down back that doesn't have the vision or burst to be an every down back). Without LaMichael James & Matt Hazel, our RB depth is horrendous, but our WR depth is still pretty good. In that scenario, if Lamar Miller went down for the season, we'd be completely screwed at RB. But if we lost any of our starting 1-2 WRs, we could still have a decent set of WRs on the field.

3) If we get a crazy wave of injuries during a game, in desperate times, LaMichael James can play slot WR (he has done so before). But Matt Hazel can't play RB.

4) If we keep LaMichael James on the final 53, he will likely contribute something on the field (like if Lamar Miller misses a few games). But if we keep Matt Hazel, he will likely be inactive through the whole season, and never see the field.

So if LaMichael James does well in the next preseason game, then I'd put him on the final 53, and stash Matt Hazel on the practice squad.

Considering we don't carry a FB and Devante's injury there's a chance we carry both. LaMike has more immediate value since he should be our returner, but Hazel has more long-term potential. I don't think we get away with stashing either on the PS.

I might be the only one, but I don't like Hazel and he is not better than that WR Preston we released or Byrd. He is a 7th round pick and he is playing like one. R. Matthews was a late round pick but he is playing like a high draft pick

Remember this is Matthews fourth season and Hazel's second, so you might expect the polish on the two players to look a different.

At the risk of making myself one of the most hated posters on here, I actually like the way Gillislee has run this preseason, minus the fumble.

I agree with most of this, but I do think Hazel gets claimed if we waive him. He's shown too much this preseason. Plus, we could probably easily find another Matt Hazel out there somewhere should the need arise, but we won't find an RB like James in a pinch.
