James is loved by all, and Dallas is "disliked" by most. Most believe that James had a great rookie year, and Dallas was a disaster. Let's take a closer look.

James played 9 games at RT, and had an average grade on the run. On the pass, he gave up 2 sacks, 8 hits, and 16 hurries.

James played 7 games at LT, and had a -11.7 grade on the run. On the pass, he gave up 4 sacks, 4 hits, and 20 hurries. Overall he pass blocked 680 times. His grade was -17.5 on the pass.

Dallas played 5 games at OG, and was bad on the run. On the pass, he gave up 0 sacks, 3 hits, and 12 hurries.

He played 5 games at RT, and was bad on the run. On the pass, he gave up 7 sacks, 5 hits, and 24 hurries.

In their overall rank at OT, James was #80 of 84, and Dallas was #75 of 84.

So, based on all this actual production, how good was James, and how bad was Dallas?

Good god

I don't need some stats to tell me that James is 1000x the RT that Dallass Thomass was. He might not have fared as well at LT but why group all the OTs together? Ridiculous ranking

To quote x-pacolypse;

Thomas sucks.

Maybe he gets better as a guard but I wouldn't bet $1 on it

Agreed but, not to that degree.. Point is that James was not that good, and Dallas, at OG, was not that bad.

Just use your eyes and you can see an obvious difference. If that doesn't work just compare your numbers. James played in 9 games at right tackle and only gave up two sacks but had 16 hurries. Thomas played in four less games at right tackle and gave up seven sacks an a whopping 24 hurries!!! Thomas also sucked in the run game. Thomas is not an NFL talent and will be cut unless he drastically improves.

if we're doing apples to apples then you can only compare them playing the same position RT. And if we do that james played leagues above Dallas ESP considering one was a rookie.

No comparison at all but, both were playing out of position and BOTH should be judged accordingly.

Yes but, neither should be judged on last year when both were not playing where they should have been playing. One was a fist round rookie, the other a 3rd round red shirt. Both deserve some patience. JMO

Show me just the grades from RT for both. That tells you all you need to know. We know that James isn't a LT. We also know that Thomas is not a T at all, and shouldn't be starting even at guard.

Does not matter. Dallas is an OG and James is a RT. They were both bad in changing positions, as was Pouncey.

lol so if we only judge them by the position they were supposed to play rg for Dallas and rt for james then even with that as a comparison you have to consider james was a rookie and Dallas wasn't , that james had a average grade in the run and Thomas didn't. So tell me how patience should we be with an absolute turd? I guess we should've been more patient with nannee too?

Honestly the offensive line stats can be very misleading. I think on the oline you are only as good as the guy you are playing along side. If you are a RT and playing alongside a horrible RG then your gonna look worse (and viseversa) because you are gonna have to pick up the slack of the guy next to you... Just by watching them play last year, you can tell James cab handle his own out there at RT.

For the season our offensive line gave up 31 sacks, 46 hits, and 133 hurries.
It's a wonder Tannehill didn't get seriously injured

I don't believe Nannee was a draft pick. The Phins dumped Wade Smith after 2-3 yrs. I believe Evan Mathis was cut by then phins too. O lineman sometimes need a few seasons to develop.
Not ready to give up on him yet.
