Just putting it out there. I got confirmation from someone on it. Nothing major. He was hobbling around on crutches when I went to Dol-Fan Fest on Grand Bahama and I never asked him why out of respect for him.

But it bothered me so I checked around. You might see a small blurb about it in the papers soon (tomorrow, my guess). I dunno. They might not view it as newsworthy.

I'm told it wasn't a big deal at all. He kept tryin to walk without the crutches whenever I ran into him on the island about a half dozen times and his girlfriend kept nagging him to use the crutches. I dunno whether she was protecting our investment or her investment there, heh...just kidding I'm sure they love each other very much.

And really, you can't meet a nicer guy than Jason Allen. Just not possible.

I guess you could consider this news a FinHeaven exclusive newsbreak, lol. Hey, we even beat Pro Football Talk to the punch.

lol, thanks.

and ****, if i was 22 and a huge talent with a big payday coming up, i'd be the nicest guy you knew, as well :)

Someone mentioned they saw Jason Allen on crutches last week and they thought it was precautionary just to keep his hip safe, which seemed strange to me.

So it's the knee then? Seems routine enough. He'll be ready in time to take part in at least training camp, if not all of it.

Great to hear that he's such a nice guy. I like it when nice guys get drafted in the 1st round.

Maybe a torn miniscus or they could have taken some scar tissue out of his knee, either way no big deal.

Cool CK. Well not cool he's on crutches but you know. Maybe it was just a mild sprain they wanted to make sure he was 100% by camp or 100% in a few weeks to resume training before camp starts.......let's hope.

LOL, yeah...but he was REALLY nice. I mean...I guess it may seem small and trivial but there was this very awkward lookin dude on the plane with us (tall, skinny, too-tight jeans, cowboy hat, huge adam's apple with no chin) and Channing started havin fun with the guy because the dude walked to his seat at the front of the plane and saw that they'd double-printed his seat. So Channing called out "Hey! Ichibod Crane!" and told him he could sit in the back with us (there was an empty seat).

Channing continued talkin to the guy but you could tell he was being a clown and having fun a little bit at the guy's expense (he's not a bad guy, he's actually very nice himself)...and then Jason from a row back piped up and asked the guy's name and where he's from and tried to start an earnest conversation to draw attention away from people laughing at the dude's expense.

It's kind of little, kind of trivial, the kind of thing that gets overlooked, but also the kind of thing that a really GOOD person does. I'm tellin ya, Allen will be in line for some of those "good guy" awards from those myriad local banquets some day.

Interestingly enough, later that guy went up to the stage at tailgate and sang the funniest, the most "Kip" from Napolean Dynamite-awkward rendition of the fight song you've ever heard. All during it I kept thinking of "Yeees, I love technology....noooot as much as you, you see....buuuuut I'll love technology....alwayyys and foreveerrrr."

Usually when a knee is scoped, I believe it's because of loose bodies or scar tissue or something like that.

Either way, he'll be fine for training camp. That was a few weeks ago when Chris saw him able to walk even without the crutches, and we still have 18 days till camp.

Correct. Not a big deal. Just thought to myself well heck, if I can beat the writers to the punch and break it to FH posters before the newsies do, why not?

hahah that is a fantastic story i must say. Napolean Dynomite is hilarious :)

By the way, how did you get to go on the plane with these guys? Was it an event of some sort?

Yeah it is for surgical purposes like taking out loose bodies or scar tissue, you can also repair an ACL arthroscopically. But on some occassions it is used for exploratory purposes to ensure that there is no damage to cartilage or ligaments, in say a 1st round draft pick like Jason Allen that you are about to invest millions in and want to make sure your not sending him out there on a bum knee. It probably was just for a clean up (taking out lose bodies). Loose bodies, scar tissue, or exploration, as you said he'll def be ready for training camp. Anything more serious I think we would have heard about by now.

Fortuitous booking I guess ;)

Could it possibly be scar tissue from his rehab? I mean he had to have been favoring his good knee for a while after his hip dislocation..maybe he pushed it to hard and it caused something to get loose?

Or he could have had a procedure from college no one heard about...then he'd just be getting it cleaned up...

Hopefully it's nothing big!

Nothing like getting those caught between the joint surfaces. Ouch!
