I was chatting this evening with a long time phin fan tonight and we chatted about Allen a little. He went on to say that he reminds us of Jamar Fletcher. You remember him right? 1st rd pick in 2001 for the phins. He just completed his 7th year with his 4th different team. This year he played for the Texans.Fletcher like Allen had all the tools and talent to be a great db but like Allen imo looks lost in coverage most the time.I remember at times Fletcher would play for Madison or Surtain and wonder how bad could this guy get? well we sure found out.Just thought i mention it im not ready to call Allen a bust yet but i personally never liked the pick but not sure how he fits into the new regime plans..who knows maybe he might improve with a better coaching staff

First of all, Jamar Fletcher only had two interceptions in his career with the Dolphins. Jason Allen already doubled that.

Second of all, Jamar Fletcher is a corner, Jason Allen's a safety.

Thirdly, Jason Allen was our best defensive back behind Will Allen.

Fourthly, Jason Allen's a million times more better than Fletcher.

I think Jason Allen is a Decent cover guy he lead the team in INTs and he only played half the season i think he will be better then Jamar Fletcher at least i hope so

:foundout:

Jason Allen actually improved from his rookie season, something Jamar Fletcher never did

Career stats:
Jason Allen (2 years in the NFL)
Tckl: 70
Int: 4
FF: 1

Jamar Fletcher's (7 years in the NFL)
Tckl: 157
Int: 7
FF: 1

As you can see, Jason will surpass Jamar's career production soon, so the only thing the have in common is the name (Jamar)

they dont even have the same name in common one is Jason and one is Jamar

Yeah what the heck was that all about? He even said Jason and Jamar in the same sentence. I'm confused. As for the comparison, Fletcher blew chunks all the time and Allen has had flashes of what we'll call goodness. Not greatness, goodness. I have always been skeptical about the Jason Allen pick since I saw the Ronnie Brown videos right when we drafted him. He got owned by Ronnie at the goal line, but the video of him trying to tackle Ronnie in the secondary was EXTREMELY embarrassing. I weeped for him that night.

Ronnie is a big guy he can run over alot of People like he did to one of the Raiders guy this year that was an awsome run

OOOOh. Corrected before I could post my comment....Touche. Well atleast Fletcher still has a shot to give his name some football decency, too bad it won't be because of him. Man we had some bad draft classes the last decade. One and Fifteen... God help us.

So you base your opinion of him on a video made by one of the FH members?:err:

Jason led the SEC in tackles in 2004, and Ronnie runs over anybody (ask Champ Bailey, B.J. Ward, the Chiefs defense, almost the entire Browns defense, I can keep going...)

Here's Jason tackling Jacobs, one of the toughest RB's to bring down

yea i dont see the jason allen and hamar fletcher comparison. allen already looks he could turn into a decent free safety for us and in a half of a year has already done more than fletcher did the whole time he was here. the only comparison i can see between the two is that they were first round picks and thats it.
