no way hes a starter in week 1....Sabans defense is waaaaay too complicated switching from the 4-3 and the 3-4 constantly...it even took vets Zach and JT many weeks of getting used to.....it even took ronnie a few extra weeks to get a feel for the offense.....and the RB position is nothing compared to any position on Nicks defense....NO WAY id want a rookie safety, our last line of defense, not totally comfortable with the defensive scheme

You make a good point. I am not sure if there are less responsibilities that a safety has to remember compared to a mlb and a de/olb. Maybe it won't take him as long to get the defense...

He probally wont start week one but he should start week two even if he doesnt fully understand

People here are to worried about winning and losing preseason games and not the actual experience and learning curve.

I think he was talkin about the regular season, not the preseason...

Either way, if he plays in the preseason and does well there is no reason not to let him in the regular season

yea.....im talkin regular season.....got the thought from the poll on the homepage.....he definately should atleast play with the first stringers for a couple series in the last 3 preseason games....but i severly doubt he'll show enough knowledge of the defense to start week 1....and of course that also depends on how much he's been preparing while buying all his new houses

He has 3 pre-season games to get ready..he will start week one, no doubt about it.

The problem that Saban is facing is that he's still the best player in camp for the S position, why would they not start him ?? It's not like he's walking in here blind, he's been thru the minicamps and OTA's (or at least some of them)...We have to take his new contract out for a spin and see what it'll do...he'll be in the lineup come Pitts...

We should at least play him in the 3rd and 4th quarter this week against JAX to get some experience. Starting isnt important right now

I think it dsepends on how well his replacement is doing. If Bell or someone else is playing at a PB level, why rush him.

so he misses 1 week of practices, so hes gonna be behind 3 weeks? i dont get it...

yes sabans defense is complicated, and there was an entire years worth of learning curve for some players last year, but hes gonna be just as comfortable in the system as say will allen is, except hes behind 1 week, he did all the mini camps where you go through the system, hes had a play book, etc... he'll be fine
