I think he's the starting safety whenever we use the dime package. Slowly working him into being the starter hopefully. Guy is a pretty solid tackler from what i have seen.

well they compared him to troy polamalu a few months ago, and polamalu took a few years to develope into what he, is doing the same role allen is doing in his first year
its smart doing that because he still gets to play and he doesn't have the pressure of starting his rookie year

And as I read this, I think about Steeler fans when Troy P. got drafted and was in the same position as Jason Allen. While some Steeler fans probably bashed their F.O. and Troy, I logical Steeler's fan probably posted the same thing I going to post in reply:

Allen's been slow to get back into football, as a result of him being out last season with an injury. Everything I've seen from him looks very promising. He looks like he has great athleticism and speed, and a good nose for where the ball is. With the way that our starting safeties are playing right now, there is no reason to mess with playing those 2 and having Allen come in on dime packages. Everybody just chill out. Not every rookie that doesn't make an imediate impact is a wasted pick (see: Philip Rivers).

Saban has kept the ship above water after a terrible start so at least give him a little bit of credit insted of basing him for his draft picks.

Not sure where all the hate is coming from because he's looked ok when he has been in there. Haven't seen too many mistakes and he's pretty good at breaking up passes. He also has an interception and I think the thing keeping him back a bit with Saban is his tackling and run support, but as far as his pass coverage skills, they're very good.
