Is anyone else out there pumped to see him play this year. I really think now that he has settled in his physical style of play will set the tone in our secondary. Thoughts?

He showed some flashes that he could play last year but im still concerned. After being a first round pick i kinda expected more but I have thought that for a few of are other first round picks as well.

the guy is an athlete. no question. my concern is him adjusting to yet another defensive scheme. i think him and bell will start and have impact years. we shall see.

See I agree with you about the scheme. I dont think this is the year that you will see an impact year with him.

Saban - Seemed like he had issues between the years learning, Some could be attributed to learning both the Safety and CB.

Cam - another system and took almost all year to finally get a start on an INJ ridden team. Again points to what is between the ears.

So now a NEW system I would not expect to much of adaption from him until later in the year. IDK he could surprise me, but what he showed in the first two years is he lacks something between the ears.

I disagree, I think Allen will be fine.

I compared his stats from last season at FS to the two Pro Bowl FSs and they were very similar.

Ken Hamlin beat him by two INTs but had very similar tackle totals, including more solo tackles and forced fumbles. However, Hamlin vastly surpassed him in pass deflections (15 to 3).

On the AFC side, Allen killed Ed Reed in takcles (62 to 39), but Reed had seven INTs and 13 pass deflections (compared to Allen's three of each).

If we stop moving him around, he may finally break out as an elite FS.

Also, out of the three, Allen was the only one with a forced fumble.

i don't think the scheme stuff is too much of a big deal anymore. Hes a third year player, and things should start clicking regardless. If he doesn't get "it" soon he might never. this year will be tell tale if he has upside or will be a role player for rest of his career i think.

I agree. I think he is a talent but right now I am not sure he has it between his years to be this great player some think he will be. He has to show it to me.

very true. but like samtodd said, it is getting to the make or break point with him. he's had long enough to adjust. he's shown signs. time to step it up a notch. the athlete part is a definite, but the mental part is yet to be determined.

bell also has a do or die year, but for health reasons.

He has shown flashes but like many on teams all around the league this is the make or break.

He now with the Will Allen and Lehan Problem have the fin brass call up the Bills see if we can work on something for Youboty

yeah, i know. why was it that we didn't draft a CB again? trae williams was taken in the fifth round! ugh. we had a good draft, but man did we skip some major defensive needs.

what did you want for youboty again? and why, pray tell, do you want to get rid of him so bad?

Jason's tackle numbers are skewed by the fact that the front seven sucked. Too many players were getting to the second level of the defense. He was just the guy that got to make shoe-string tackles and hold on for dear life to save a touchdown.

I hope he succeeds, but he isn't exactly a ferocious hitter. I wouldn't want him to be the only player between a physical RB and the goal line.

i am exited to see if he can step up his coverage..
my main memory of him is this...
i know you mostly see hill but thats because allen is on his back after getting ran over by mr manning
