If ever there were criteria for getting into the National Football League’s Hall of Fame, Jason Taylor thinks that current Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake fits the bill.

How?

“I mean he never wears a shirt, so you guys see how he’s built, and how he takes care of himself,” said Taylor.

Taylor and Wake played two seasons together in Miami in 2009 and 2011, and while both have had similar impacts on the Dolphins defense throughout their careers, it’s not likely that Wake will ever match Taylor’s sack total. Taylor had 139.5 sacks in his 15-year career, while Wake’s total sits at 81.5 after eight seasons.

Wake might be better rushing the passer, but Taylor could just do it all. Tough call, love them both...

Imagine if we could have them both in their primes across from each other...

Freeney and Mathis would've been an after thought

Taylor was definitively a better overall player than Wake... But he might be right that Wake is a better pure pass rusher... Marino vs Montana (or I guess now Brady) argument, really.

I think Wake is also a better overall player, and I think Taylor is even worse against the run.

He is right. Wake is a better pass rusher. I think Wake is the best pass rusher the Dolphins organization has ever had in it's entire history. If I had to choose between Taylor or Wake on who I wanted on my team, I would take Wake.

While they are both great, I would take JT... In my opinion he was just a better overall player made game changing plays... Though If it was just about getting to the QB, and I had to have one guy for one play it would def be Wake.

Too bad Wake had such a late start to his career. If he had a 15 year career he would definitely eclipsed JT's sack total. Taylor averaged 9.3 per season where Wake is averaging 10.2

Apples and Oranges folks.

I love them both and if I had to pick one to start a defense with it would be Taylor because of his versatility. There is no question.

These are gross #'s:

Most Career Fumble Recoveries for TDs - 6
Most Career INTs returned for TDs by a D-Linemen - 3
Most Career Defensive TDs by a D-Linemen - 9
Most Career Opponent Fumble Recoveries - 29 (Tied with Jim Marshall)
2nd Most Career Forced Fumbles - 48 (Robert Mathis - 52)
2nd Most Career INTs by a D-Lineman - 8 (Tied with Chris Doleman and Richard Dent)

That said, if I absolutely needed a sack to get off the field and seal the game, then the nod goes to Wake.

Sorry but JT not only the better player but the better pass rusher too and here's why. JT did it all and still was great at rushing the passer. Wake does nothing to go up hill on every play. If JT only wanted to get sacks then how many more would he had gotten? Not dumping on Wake who is one of my favorites but this is not even close.

Ozzy rules!!

If Wake was as good as Taylor against the run, he would be in talks as one of the best ever. I would agree that as a pure pasha rusher he is slightly better than Taylor though. Wake has to be paired with a DE who is strong against the run or we struggle, that is really his only downfall.
