Lost in the recent soul-searching regarding whether current and former players would allow their children to play football is whether the current and former players would do it all over again.
Former NFL defensive player of the year Jason Taylor believes that, for 95 percent of all former players, the answer would be, “Yes.”
That’s a question that each of the concussion plaintiffs will have to answer at some point: whether they would have refused to play if they had known everything players now know about concussions. For any of the concussion plaintiffs who are willing to tell the truth, that could be fatal to their claim that the NFL failed to warn them of the risks.

He's right.

I'd say 95 % is about right.

Nobody will say so, as the article points out, because the money grab is the most important thing.
Everybody knows, and knew, that football is harmful. If you don't, you've never played football.
It's violent, ruthless, and it's ethic is like nothing else I've done in my life except the Army.

If you are hurt, and admit it, you are less. It's just how it is. I had at least 3 major concussions in my
limited experience playing ball. I've had more minor ones from just being a kid, not to mention playing
football.

I do fully agree that if parents are worried, they should have their children play soccer, and by all means
don't keep score. Anything to deaden competition and to take physical contact out of the equasion.

What kills me is these money grabbing fartblossoms are going to be the the beginning of the end
of tackle football. Once the sport starts dieing at it's root (the kids), it will wither, and go away.

The reality of it is that every football organization is at least a little culpable, from Pop Warner
to Jr High on up. Think about that.....

The lawyers have. I promise.

It will be interesting to see how this all plays out...I don't think whether a player would play for the chance to secure themselves financially for the rest of their lives (although many don't due to poor money management skills) changes the fact that CTE is real and owners are most likely to respond to making the game safer if it involves paying out big $$$ if they don't.

Smokers of cigarettes know that long-term tobacco use is harmful to their health, but that doesn't mean tobacco companies should be absolved from the responsibility they are putting out a harmful and deadly product imo.

It won't be long before kickoffs are a thing of the past as a result of this case.

Not just kickoffs, though that will be the first step.

I will stop watching football at that point, not that they will miss me.

Remember, your logic progression holds all parties to concussions responsible.
One could argue if these players were taught how to tackle correctly at a junior
level, this would not be a widespread problem. It's all the way up and down
the cycle, man. I promise this will not be the end of it. The game itself is in
real peril.

But that's no concern of the ****heads that have already made their fame and fortune
playing the game, and now want to come back to the table to ruin it for everyone else.

I assure you no one imagined the ramifications that football could have on any given player. Sure people had/have to figure it's dangerous, but to what extent? it's interesting all the way around. science says it's not only the big concussion hits that cause these mental illnesses/disabilities it's the numerous sub-concussion hits over a sustained period of time. everyone is different, but I'm sure it's much more of a reality now to the players that there are serious repercussions to the game than the players in the past.

Actually I've read that soccer has the highest concussion rate amongst all sports. Albeit relatively minor concussions. I've heard that heading the ball can cause concussions

i had 9 during hs and college. all football player knows the risks. and imo to blame suicides on them is an excuse. hate on me if you want but, ive had nine and they were bad enough to end my playing days. and now players want to sue is just crap, they knew what they were getting into. these players commit suicide bc they are depressed and dont know what to do with their lives after football

Flopping leads to concussions as well...

studies and research gathered has confirmed that depression is a result of brain matter being squished and deformed as a result of these repetitive hits. suing doesnt fix all that, but i could imagine the med bills are pretty obsene. that's a lot of concussions my friend and I hope your future health isn't affected by them.
