In an interview with NFL Network, Ajayi said he believes Tannehill is ready to take another step forward. “Seeing how he’s been able to work with coach (Adam) Gase and seeing what he’s been doing on the line of scrimmage, just being able to make those different calls and things like that, it’s been really cool to see and I’m excited to see him blossom and really dominate this year,” Ajayi said.
Tannehill completed 62 percent of his passes last season with 24 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. However, he’s managed a passer rating of at least 90 in only one of his first four seasons. While passer rating isn’t a fully indicative statistic of quarterback skill, it is a measure of passing efficiency. Tannehill hasn’t managed to be efficient and productive enough during his first four seasons to get Miami.

I really HATE these quotes. What would anyone THINK he'd say? "Tannehill isn't as good as I expected?" "If he's our starter, our season is over?" Not that I think he's being dishonest, but there's no way to know if the players really like Tannehill/Gase/VJ or not. Not by public comments anyway. That said, a number of players have made comments that provide some hope. Comments similar to "finally Tannehill can audible us out of a bad play" or "the ball is coming out quicker." These are the comments that are more important to me.

On paper he should do well. A better line, less sacks/hits, more time to throw and a very solid receiving group. Ability to audible at the line, and a QB-friendly coaching staff.

Ultimately, the game must slow down for him and he must come through during the clutch or none of the ratings, stats or passing yards will mean anything. He simply has to lead the team to a string of wins into the playoffs (this doesn't mean he wins single-handed but is a key to the victories). That is really the only way he separates himself from the middle of the pack. In many ways Andrew Luck has similar throwing stats but his presence and demeanor on the field is much different. Luck has made plays in the clutch and end of games. Tannehill must complete games in the end.

did you read the article?

it's just off-season times man, there isn't much going on unless you want to go back and forth arguing about tannehill's pocket presence some more.

Yup, off-season - the reason I posted the article on the Fins OL ranking. My concern with Ajayi is he's a rookie - he has no basis for evaluating Tannehill other than college QBs. He has no basis to know if Tannehill will "blossom" other than comments he overhears from veterans. Not dumping on Ajayi, but I can't put much confidence on a rookie's evaluation. Add no rookie makes public negative comments about a veteran. PR.

Ooops. Not rookie, but few snaps.

He was here all last year in Lazor's scheme, now he is seeing what the qb is allowed to do in this new scheme with the ability to control the play more at the line. Players notice these things because it means they are involved too. They need to know they playbook and audibles just as much as the qb because the play might change on the spot and involve them with the audible.

His only evaluation is he sees is his qb is allowed to do more than he was allowed to last year. No secret Ryan hasnt really had the keys to have full control of the offense. Most schemes call for it. Some dont. Lazor's didnt. So now with his NFL experience we will see if the QB plays better in the clutch and in a sense calling his own plays at the line.

I remember the first game last year (giants) that Campbell let Ryan have "some" audible ability finally after coaching a few games and seeing it was a problem and handcuffing the offense, Ryan changed the play at the line and threw a deep pass to Stills for a TD. An explosive play. Hopefully his audible ability brings more of that to this team, and in essence more points scored.

OK, if he's heard some veteran's comment, that should give you some hope Tanny's turning the page to a better day. Just sayin... I'm hoping so. I hope he's got that fire of his new coach vs the demeanor of his old coach.

And I'm guardedly optimistic. To me, the 2 potential killers for '16 are injuries and Gase being a charade, If those break Miami's way, Miami should finally be fun to watch. OTOH, it appears Miami has the best WR corp and OL it's had in years, CBs no longer 8-10 yards off LOS, and coaches who change to match talent - not change talent to match scheme. But, yeah, I like hearing positive comments by players. The more the better.
