Ajayi can become the first runningback in NFL history to rush for 200+ in 3 consecutive weeks.

Earl Campbell came the closest to the feat...rushing for 157 in his attempt at it.

To accomplish it...Ajayi must do it against the leagues 2nd ranked run defense....a defense that has only allowed one runner to go over 100...David Johnson...who got 111.

All the other runners combined totaled under 300.

If Ajayi does it...it will be pretty impressive doing it against Pittsburgh, Buffalo and the Jets.

Seems like the Dolphins should be able to parlay the attention on this to hit some great play action.

That would be great, but I'd be pretty happy if he got 157!

That would be an incredible story line if that were to happen. Actually the NY Jets have the NFL's best run defense after 8 games played. Check out the below from NFL.com Team Stats.

RK TEAM ATT YDS YDS/A LONG TD YDS/G FUM FUML

He's not rushing for 200. Let's be real. They will shut him down early. I'd be happy with 120 all purpose yards from him. N

Just for the record...

O.J. came the closest, going for 171 yards in a 58-20 loss to the Baltimore Colts after topping 200 twice in a row. Campbell also gave it a shot, carrying 36 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-16 win over Denver. Ricky’s follow-up wasn’t bad, either, with 101 yards in a 23-17 win over Oakland.

Your probably right, but I hope we keep trying. Sometimes teams give up too early and would have had more success if they kept with it.

Jets have every incentive to almost solely focus on stopping Ajayi. The path to victory against Miami this year has been keeping the team passing. Tough to ignore the rough Tannehill numbers on third and fourth down.

Imo if there was one game to take shots down the field this is it. Jets will be stacking the box and daring the Dolphins to pass further than 5 yards. Give Stills some cocaine and tell him to dash as fast down the field as he can. A deep pass or two will create the spacing necessary to then run the ball at will.

We better freakin have some innovative Play Action stuff ready to go in this game.

This. Luckily, Gase has a gameplan to win this game that doesn't require 25 carries for Ajayi.

We still need to control the clock. I expect us to try the running game early and often, but eventually switch to more of a passing attack.

Maybe even a little dink and dunk (as much as I hate it). Some short passes to Landry with some YAC to move the chains.

I expect plenty of shots down field and vs. Revis, but Gase needs to find a way to control the clock & keep our defense off the field.

I stand corrected....the article I originally read talked about his first try at it in 73'.....which was actually the first game of 74'....where he fell way short.

In 76'....they gave him 28 attempts to get that 171...so they were going for it I think....be interesting to see if Miami goes for it.

It is going to be tough sledding. He could do it with two explosive plays when they load the box, and a stay diet of effective runs. I doubt he does it in 10 yard chunks.

Those are my thoughts too. To have a chance at 200, he is going to need at least two break away runs of over 40 yards each.

If we start hitting our medium passing game, the holes will start materializing. And if he gets one in our end, he has a chance. But it's not going to be 30 carries of over 4 yards each against this Jets defense. This might be a good game to reverse to Grant and then later in the game fake it and let Ajayi break one big.

Very slim. Jets are very good against the run. This game is on Tannehill and the passing game.

20+rushes for 100 yards is a winning formula. 2nd and 6, 3rd and 4, these are down and distance scenarios we want to see
