You're right. Jay Fiedler wasn't that bad. And he wasn't that good either.

I can't really understand why everyone bashes Jay Fiedler as much as they do. Check out his stats.

He was no Marino, but can you imagine the pressure of succeeding a legend? He really wasn't that bad as compared to our succeeding Quarterbacks. We did go to the playoffs with him at the helm....didn't we??

AJ Feeley http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/235056

Gus Frerrotte http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/1070

What say you?

He wasn't the problem. Having Wannstedt deciding personnel for the team was the problem.

I completely agree with you

HOWEVER

you are going to get two types of responses to this

A) Ear jokes

B) Interception jokes

He was better than anything that has replaced him but still no one will admit it.

He was that bad. He had the best defense in the league at his disposal at one time and even in the last few years they were younger and faster than they are now. This team won on defense from 1999-2002

yeh man but he couldn't throw the ball well .... he could not throw a long ball .......

The problem was, he was never going to be good enough. He is a Gus Frerotte clone, IMO.

Points well taken from those of you who disagree with me, but my point was that he MANAGED a game better than what we have now. Remember too that when Norv Turner was brought in, he was supposed to be the offensive savior because his offense was geared for Fiedler. Obviously it wasn't.

You can win, even championships with medicore quarterbacks IF the QB has all of the right talent around him. Fiedler didn't have all of that. (Ok, he did have Ricky, but who was at the offensive helm?? Turner).

Look at Orton in Chicago...medicore QB with a GREAT team around him..and they're winning. Hasselbeck in Seattle, Trent Dilfer...won the Super Bowl in Baltimore...mediocore QB with a GREAT team around him...Mark Rippen, Phil Simms, etc...

man you guy's must have some serious memory issues....or you just work off of short term memory.....Jay sucked big ones. No stat or anyones thoughts are gonna change that....he sucked....period...

I agree. And in the New Jersey Star-Ledger today, Fiedler says he's targeting the Dolphins game for his return... adding that it means a lot to him.

And you're basing this off of...what??

You are obviously a lifetime member of the First Marino Football Church of Miami. No one who follows Dan will ever be good enough in your eyes.

Do your homework before you make a blanket statement like that!

I never mentioned Marino.....and I basing it off Jay's performance here in Miami....he sucked....period.

He's not a quality starting QB...never has....never will.

Period.

You can put as much ketchup and mustard on a sh*t sandwich as you want....it still taste like sh*t.

That about sums it up for me too. Jay is nothing more than average at best. We need an above average qb who can make the deep throws.
