Jay Fiedler... what do you think of the dolphin's getting rid of him ?

Fiedler was never the problem. He just never was the answer.

I agree 100% I actually liked jay. Sure he wasn't a great QB but he managed a game well. Alot like Pennington with less talent. The guy won ballgames while he was under center even with wanny as coach. He wont be the kind of qb that can carry the team on his arm but with the right people around him he could get the job done. I think people were to hard on him. No body will ever replace Marino just face it he was the best passing qb of all time and there will never be another one like him. If you look at the nfl right now there are only a couple great qb's the rest are just average. Dan has set a bar so high in Miami that we will never see again. We just need a qb who is smart and can manage a game well to win

Fiedler was on the field for more wins than losses. Much the same way that Morlon Greenwood was on the field for more wins than losses. Jay was a passenger, not a driver.
exactly! and AJ or Gus can also be a passenger. I was just answering the guys question. jay fiedler...what do you think of thedolphins' getting rid of him. I think, why did you get rid of him for AJ or Gus??? We are no better...Jay won games. Do these guys?

And yet we find ourselves in this current predicament while he spent his 1st 4 years here leading the team to an average of 10 wins.

yeah? and so what?

this franchise needed to bottom out 10 years ago, and it didn't... remaining just competitive enough to keep us from truly getting better with elite talent at the beginning of the draft.. Fiedler could manage an offense IF it had matchups, and IF he had a running game (which often they didn't), and IF the defense held an opponent to 13 or less points... He was not a difference maker, and everyone knew it...

We bottomed out beginning last summer, and will need to continue just a little while longer... Let's not rehash or lament our past players in terms of personnel talent that we never really had, at least at quarterback... The most important position on the field...

Jay Fiedler was not a good quarterback... He was an average quarterback on his best days, a disaster on his worst... Frerotte is better is some qualities, and worse in others... I still say the jury is out on Feeley, but it's not looking promising to this point...

Let's see what this QB tandem does against a Bucs team that is nearly as depleted as we are... Our first home game!

same feeling

I am a Hurricanes fan and I had the same feeling about Brock berlin as i did for Jay fiedler when they played. Now guess who is trying to make the 3rd string job. Brock. Oh well i am slowly beginning to realize that this may also be a rebuilding year of sorts. This sucks. Our defense may have 2 more years tops before it gets overhauled even more and may lose our WOO (window of opportunity) with a dominant defense. Then we may really be screwed. :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno: :shakeno:

Jay like Dilfer was a caretaker of offense giving the d some rest so when they came the would dominate

They said something during the Pitt/Fin game that stuck in my head. I think it went like this, ( While Jay was here, he was thought of as the more athletic QB out of the two, now that Jay is gone, AJ is thought of as the more athletic of the two)

Take it for what it's worth.

My take on that quote is we are no better off then we were when Jay was our QB. They are all the same guy!

Idk from what i've seen i think jay would have still been a better fit w. the dolphin's also he look's very impressive w. the jets what do you guy's thinK>>
I think he'd look even more impressive as a Bill...

:shakeno:

I couldn't be happier! My decision was cemented when I saw him - in person - lateral the ball to the tackle with the game on the line against the Jets last season. I figure - hey, the guy's been playing for the Jets unofficially for five years anyways, so why not make it official!

If I'm going to be frustrated w/ our QB play this year, I'd rather be frustrated with somebody I haven't been frustrated with since September 2000.
