Jaylen Waddle

You would have to think they discussed Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith with Tua when they were putting their draft board together.

Who they should select if both players were on the board, etc.

If we are talking pound for pound no ones better than Devontae Smith. Dude won the heisman with toothpicks for legs.

Thankfully pound for pound means nothing in the NFL and Waddle will be a better player imo.

Jaylen Waddle has speed.

His speed is only matched with Tyreek Hill. Miami went out and got a guy that can score from anywhere when last year they had zero ability to do that.

Homerun pick and honerun 1st round for Miami.

I was thinking the phins got a Tyreek Hill equivalent

They did not pick who I thought but am very content.

This happens every year, the player we end up picking is suddenly the best player ever. Now I'm not saying he won't be just that but before the draft very few of us would have taken him ahead of Pitts, Chase or Smith. Let's see how it goes. 9 starts in college is a very small sample size, we need to see a lot more before we declare him the king.

Love the Waddle pick, but how can anybody say anybody other than Devonta Smith is best player pound for pound? Heisman trophy winner, all-world talent at 166 pounds should win that title hands down.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they talked to Tua. Just like the Bengals obviously listened to Burrow when he said he wanted them to draft Chase when it was obvious the bigger need was drafting an offensive tackle at 5.

I had written prior to the draft that I thought the Bengals would draft Chase because that is who Burrow wanted them to pick instead of Sewell. Of course I was accused of not knowing what I writing about and told that the Bengals weren’t going to draft Chase just because Burrow wanted him because they had a much bigger need on the offensive line.

Of course you also had all the experts in here who also claimed the Falcons wouldn’t draft Pitts because they were going to draft a QB or they were going to draft a defensive player.

The reality is the Bengals did have a bigger need on the offensive line than they had at WR. But they were smart enough to listen to Burrow and now with the way the draft has fallen, they will still be able to select a very good offensive lineman with their pick in the second round if that is what they want to do.

The Falcons still have their option of selecting an offensive lineman or several defensive players who can come in and start immediately with their pick in the second round.

I think there were so many quality players in the first 2 rounds of the draft that teams like the Bengals and Falcons could afford to take the players they really wanted in the first round instead of drafting for need, while knowing they would be able to draft for need in the second round and in later rounds.

I think the Dolphins and Bengals were pretty clear that they weren’t convinced that Smith was the best pound for pound WR in the draft. Because they both passed on him to select the WR’s they decided to select instead of Smith.

With that said, I loved Smith and while I wanted Waddle because of his speed and how I view him as a perfect fit for the Dolphins offense. I would not have been upset at all if they had drafted Smith instead of Waddle. I think the Eagles made a smart trade to move up in front of the Giants to draft Smith. I have no doubt the Giants would have drafted Smith if he was still on the board when they were on the clock.

I Love the pick!!!!!! i got caught up in all the media hype with Pitts and Chase. He fits well into this offense.
I thought it was pretty obvious that Miami was targeting either Smith or Waddle. But the media kept incorrectly saying Miami was hoping for Pitts or Chase and there were so many posts about Pitts here that it left the more casual fans set up for disappointment.
