Everyone is quick to mention how Jay is averaging less and less yards as the season goes on, and it is true his yards have plummeted as of late, but his impact has still been profound. Since the Bill's game everyone has sold out to stop the run, and our passing game has been top 10 in the NFL since. The only game since Jay broke out against Pitt and Buffalo our QB didn't have a great sucsess was also the only game Jay didn't get 15 or more carries. I hope teams keep selling out to stop Jay, so we can keep seeing 60 yard TD passes. Gase needs to keep letting him run no matter what the stats say.

Don't forget the Ambassadorship he will assume next year when we play in London again. We have always been one of the the most popular NFL teams across the pond, this will strengthen it immensely. He might eventually be the first free agent the newly-minted British Bulldogs sign in 2024.

Exactly right...and I applaud that you recognize it.

They are trying to stop Jay...and it does open up the passing game.

There is no doubt in my mind that Jay's production has fallen off because of the loss of Mike Pouncey. Easily one of the best run blocking centers in the game. His ability to get to the second level has definitely affected Ajayi's ability to break out for long runs. If we are able to shore up the offensive line and add adequate depth in this off season we should see him improve and be more consistent next year .

They have to sell out to stop him. They have to respect him because the second they don't he'll rip them apart. He will always be a threat that teams will have to respect

Luckily Buffalo will be prepared for the pass and it may open up some lanes for him to make some damage.

If not Moore will go long on them.

If Ajayi is going to round back into form, now is the time. He decimated Buffalo and nothing would make me happier than to see this again. We also need to control Time of Possession to limit Buffalo wearing down our D with their running game - Ajayi offers the best chance of helping us to do so.

Side note: Drake has been running well recently and I'd like to see him spell Ajayi more than usual.

GO PHINS - I will be there this weekend rooting them on in enemy territory!

It will equal out, as teams will realize they have to stop Stills from catching 50+ yard TDs, and the safety will play back, and jay can explode againn. Every TD Kenny has had starting with the 60+ yard TD against Buffalo he was in single coverage with no safety help over the top. Kenny is too fast for the majority of #2 CBs in the NFL, and will eventually break free for the big one. Matt Moore seems intune with this exeploit a little more than Ryan was, or has the balls to try to take the top off more often. He has been quick to lock on to the WR or TE who doesn't have some one helping over the top, and making teams pay starting with the last drive against AZ. Even his INT against the Jets was the right read, as Parker was one on one with no deep help, and of Matt steps in to that throw he would have had 5 TDs and 0 ints.

Ajayi has been down numbers-wise but his respectability remains and he is a strong and physical RB. Gase doesn't shy from the run like past coaches either and it's good to see him stick with it regardless of the previous results. Ajayi could still shore up a few of his areas to make more out of situations. Right after halftime vs the Jets gives a quick overall look.

Here are the first 3 plays of the third quarter. They are 3 straight zone runs, all to the right, from 3 different variations of 12 personnel (1 RB, 2 TE).

#1: 12 Duece TE right vs 3-4 Over

- Zone run, inside read b/w the Guards. Center climbs and seals MLB. 6 yard gain, fumble.

#2 12 Double TE vs 3-4 Under
[vine]50vOm6xq0rr[/vine]
- Off Tackle Stretch. Playside blockers (outside of the Guard) try to spill defenders to the outside. Great job of RB keeping legs turning to gain another 6 yards.

#3: 12 Double TE, Tackle Heavy right vs 3-4 Under
[vine]50vOhdlHzjl[/vine]
- Zone run, outside read. It's always easier to view in hindsight but the inside lane here had some nice yardage to take as again the Center seals the MLB, but still a healthy gain of 4. This would be an example of what is meant at times when people say Ajayi has a tendency to bounce runs outside when not necessary. Plant your foot, get your pads square, and go North & South.

Here's a just some good old run defense by the Jets. We run an inside Trap play. DT crashes down the line into LG Tunsil which then free the NT who loops over into the playside gap to make the stop.

The thing I don't want to see, is us going three and out too many times to start out on offense. We cant afford to get down 10-0 or 14-0 against these guys. Their offense can score. We need to be scoring early and often. And I have a feeling that means some shots down the field right off the bat.

The difference between Gase sticking to the run all four quarters vs Lazors abandoning it at the first sign of trouble is stark.

Rex Ryan should know by know that we can and will beat them deep. He wont be selling out against Jay and if he does, then we'll go to the air.
