Jeff Darlington talking Dolphins on WQAM

Can someone give a general rehash for those of us that can't listen to it? Thanks!

I am so excited about Gase/Tannehill :)

He thinks the world of Gase and thinks he'll get the most out of Ryan.

Believes Laremy Tunsil will be an outstanding guard before he moves to LT later on. Says the fins should not be as concerned with the pot smoking thing as with the fact others are out to sabotage him.

Thinks it's time for Tannehill to lead a late comeback win where he takes over the game (as do I ) to get to the next level.

I was in the car listening this morning, but I think I heard Darlington say that Gase thinks that Tannehill has elite skills, i.e., every attribute you need to be elite (not that he is elite yet). It seemed that Darlington was attributing this to Gase and not just gas-bagging himself. Basically, Gase is excited because he thinks he can put Tannehill into positions to succeed and that he thinks Tannehill is a bright guy who he will allow to make adjustments on the field. I perked up on that because I have been pounding the table on this point for awhile and it was music to my ears.

A good listen! Maybe Joe Rose is a good alternative to finsiders now that they're gone.

Says Gase is one of the top talents in the NFL. Says Gase's personality and impressiveness doesn't come across in a press Conf but is immediately obvious off air.

I still get facebook posts from the Dolphins site with Congemi and some of the other Finsiders with player interviews and such.

Joe Rose is good but he covers all S.Fla sports so there is a lot of basketball talk now and UM / Marlins / Panthers stuff as well.

I miss Darlington.. He is head and shoulders above anybody we got covering the Fins.. Including James Walker aka Mayo Sandwich.. Meaning absolutely no substance..

Thanks for the run down. Totally agree with that last part. If he's going to get true respect, not only from rest of league but 100% convince the rest of the team, a QB led "willed to win" comeback would go a long way.

Some quickly transcribed quotes from the interview:
On Gase: I think this guy is such the real deal…I don’t think you’re seeing the person the players will see…this guy is going to motivate the locker room like nothing we’ve seen in recent years.

On Gase and Tannehill: He’s going to empower him…Adam Gase sees a guy in Ryan Tannehill that is not only physically gifted but mentally gifted. One thing I remember Gase telling me, he said something essentially like I’m going to get him 20 completions a game, I’m going to ask Tannehill to get those five other ones, those exceptional ones.

On Tunsil: I think he can be outstanding at guard…the bigger concern I would have with Tunsil—and I think this is something the Dolphins will work on ultimately addressing--who were the people who are after him? There’ve been ties to a former business manager…he’s got a lawsuit with this stepfather. By all means it seems like Tunsil is a good guy. If that’s the case then he’s surrounding himself with really bad people. If I was running the Dolphins I’d get my legal team…remove all the cancers from Laremy Tunsil’s life. I get it, he’s the one who put himself in this situation, now find a way to get himself out of this situation.

Can Tannehill get 30 touchdowns? The more important question is, say he gets 25, what are his interceptions at? We still have a lot of holes we’re still looking at, whether it’s tight end, the running game…that’s where that offensive line keeping Tannehill clean, Tannehill stepping up, Gase empowering him that’s where those things are going to have to compensate for those gaps in the Dolphins roster.

On Tannehill stepping up in the Fourth Quarter: I totally agree with you. There’s no more excuses. I keep harping on Adam Gase. The fact that he met up with Peyton Manning it doesn’t say to me, he got to soak up the knowledge of Peyton and he’s going to be so much better this year. What that says to me is, Peyton Manning respects Adam Gase enough and his offensive mind to spend time with Gase’s quarterback.

He also says no more excuses for RT.

Very excited for the upcoming season, really think Gase will finally turn things around. He's a very likable guy and easy to root for

I do too, but seems what I've looked at so far is 2 or 3 minute clips here and there. Trying to find something to sustain an hour drive back n forth to work. Finsiders podcasts were generally 2 or 3 hours long. So I could listen to an hour on the way in and an hour on the way home. Would never get to listen to the full podcast, but seems the 2nd half of the show is a lot of repeats and fluff anyways.
