Nobody wants to play here. Well that actually works out better. The best teams in the league build/win through the DRAFT! not through FA (GB, Pitt, NYG, NE).. Now it's just a matter of whether Ireland can truly draft the right players to fit into Philbin's system. That remains to be seen but I'm sick of giving the Jake Grove and Justin Smiley's of the world big contracts. Real teams win through the draft, NOT FA, just ask the Redskins/Cowboys how throwing money around has improved their teams.

The thing is that I don't trust Ireland's drafts. His first round selections have been good, but eh.... this team doesn't have that many playmakers.

his 2nd round picks have obviously been a disaster (unless of course its been Parcells- we'll never know).. this is a make or break it year for him

Aside from Jake Long, which was more a Parcells decision, Ireland hasn't drafted anyone that would put us on the path to being a playoff team. At most, he's managed to draft a few players who would make decent starters on a good team. You don't become a team legitimately competing for a playoff spot every year, much less a Super Bowl contender, by drafting decent players.

Saying you should rebuild through the draft is a lot easier than actually accomplishing that. Notice the number of teams that constantly seem to be in rebuilding mode. Count the Dolphins as one of them.

so now the future hinges on Ireland's drafts.

well then you're fukked.

Its only a blessing as the best we can do is have the worst record in the league with the #1 overall pick, and also hope that its in a year where a true franchise QB is the #1 prospect like Andrew Luck or Barkley, instead of a year when a LT is considered a top prospect.

if you're relying on Ireland's drafting, then the more realistic outcome would be miami attaining the #1 overall pick, as there is zero hope of attaining the prize with that buffoon in charge of things

I feel so blessed to have drafted Koa Misi instead of Gronkowski.. I mean, we traded a 4th and paid big money on an extension to the speed burner Fasano !! What outstanding value !

I feel so blessed to have drafted a middling stop-gap player like Koa Misi, and a player with a chronic bad leg in Odrick instead of an impact player at #12

I also feel so blessed to have drafted AJ Edds and John Jerry in the 3rd and 4th rounds that year.

we're on a Fast track to success baby !! Playoff wins here we come !!!

Know one knew if Rob would've been that good? Or he would've gotten picked up in the 1st round haha!
Drafting a great franchise player isn't as easy as it seems. Know one knew Tom Brady would've been that good or whoever else, its just like pulling a needle out of a pile of hay!

To be honest, when you start getting into the later rounds 3 rd on.. they are development or prospect players. You have to hit on your first and second round players. After that a draft is gravy. If you hit on 4 of 7 players you're considered to have a great draft, so let's stop pretending that everything we touch needs to turn tp gold. Doesn't anyone remember a few years ago when the Steelers practically cut their entire draft?

I agree, Ireland should get the draft at least. Personally, I would've preferred if Miami came out with a statement or something. The radio stns are spouting off enough crap to convince the entire Miami fanbase to chuck up cookies for the remainder of the season.

The Pats have signed down and out guys and STILL win.

We brought in a coach.. let's see what he can do. (I feel good about Philbin actually)

We can't bring in a whole new roster. I personally am glad we didn't overpay for players. I don't give a damn if coddle players like our GM. They're looking to get PAID, or be babied.

CASH is king. And the Dolphins just aren't willing to throw it away... because history has proven that it doesn't work.
